Luburgh is off to a quick start for his third consecutive Terracross Racer Class Championship. Luburgh also helped build a track that was recognized as one of the best in Terracross history. In the first Racer event, Luburgh led every lap from the start. But his race was nearly over before it started.

“I went out there on the parade lap, tried the new line to see if the tires were all even and it didn’t work,” said Luburgh. “I bent an A-arm. The crew got me back out, I pulled the holeshot and maintained the lead. I knew Mickey was behind me and that kept me moving pretty hard because I didn’t want him pressuring me.”
In the second event, Luburgh started at the back of the pack due to the inverted start and climbed through the field and took the lead briefly before tangling with a lapped car on the final lap, flipping his machine. He rebounded to finish third and unofficially takes the points lead.

“It came down to that white flag,” said Luburgh. “I had the leader there, but I caught a wheel in lapped traffic and turned over. They got me flipped over, I took off and finished third. I got really lucky picking lines around chaos because there is a lot of chaos. This was a great weekend. I’m so glad for GBC. The Mongrels are the reason I’m here.”
In the first Racer vs. Celebrity Shootout, Luburgh held off the competition in the Track’s Mystik Mayhem section to score his second victory of the day, The Shootout race featured the top racers from each of the four other classes, including the Women’s class.
“There were a lot of people out there that we don’t really get to race against so that made it fun,” said Luburgh. “We came into the Mystik Mangler section and it was just carnage. There was a yellow flag so we had to find a way to fit our way through it. I just held the lead on the restart and went on to win.”
Luburgh will continue his dominant 2016 run as Terracross heads south to Jacksonville, NC for its next doubleheader weekend, October 1-2nd at Camp Lejeune.
