Round two of the GNCC series was to be held at an all-new location in Sparta, Georgia. The weather in Georgia was much hotter than racers experienced last week in Florida, and seeing how rough the track was looking after the morning racing, racers were in for a dry, blown out track, that would only get more challenging as the race wore on.

HMF’s McClure was involved in a first turn pileup on the start and was forced to start at the back of the 12-rider pack. Jarrod quickly made his way through the tail end of riders only to have a stick lodge in his machine forcing him to pull over and lose valuable time.

“The start got me a little excited, but I calmed down and was making passes and feeling good, then about halfway through the first lap a stick jammed in my rear brake pedal forcing me to get off and yank it out letting a few riders by again. After that I pushed so hard I pumped up a little”, said McClure.

Despite having arm pump McClure was able to get his Elka/Teixeira Honda 450ER up into the fifth position and even began to close in on Mcgill on the final lap who was running fourth. Out of time McClure settled for fifth at the checkered flag.

“The beginning of the race definitely hurt me out there, I pumped up and the heat didn’t help the fact, but my ATV worked flawless the whole time and I am happy for another top five finish today, we need to just stay consistent like always”, said McClure on the days results.

JMR’s XC2 Pro Am racer Randy Hamilton started out the day completely opposite than McClure pulling the XC2 class hole shot and getting out to the early lead. Hamilton battled with former XC1 racer Kevin Yoho and began to gap the field early on. Randy faded a little in the heat, but was still in podium contention on the last lap, but then suffered a minor crash that sent him back to fourth for the day.

After two rounds of GNCC racing McClure is sitting fifth overall in the XC1 points, while his team mate Randy Hamilton is also sitting fifth in the XC2 pro am points. The JMR team will return to Steele Creek GNCC in three weeks ready to get back on the podium.
