The first moto of the day started out great. Rastrelli’s speed and setup was on point and he ran in the top three for nine laps. Unfortunately, a mechanical issue took him out of the race with just two laps left to go.

“I got second off the holeshot and had a good battle with Chad Wienen for a bit. He got around me, but I actually closed the gap up a little at the end of the race. Then with two laps to go, I was coming to the finish line and my bike shut off. It was just a mechanical issue and no ones fault, but we ended up not finishing that moto,” explained Rastrelli.

Rastrelli went into the second moto with the very last gate pick and consequently did not get the start he was looking for. However, he put his head down and charged his way up to fourth, nearly passing for third place at the end of the moto. The fourth place finish in moto two combined with a 17th in the first moto allowed him to salvage ninth overall.

“It was a good weekend, probably the best I have felt all year. I am really excited for the next few races and seeing what my health will do for me,” said Rastrelli, who has dealt with nausea issues during the past few races. He changed up his diet and it seems to have paid off with his great riding at Spring Creek.

In addition to his changed diet and improved health, Rastrelli’s great sponsors and team had a tremendous impact on his successful weekend. “The PEP shocks, Goldspeed tires, JB components, and Baldwin motor were working so unbelievably well. I cannot thank everyone on the whole team enough for sticking by me in these tough times. I am hoping to go to Unadilla and do well for everybody.”

Prior to the race at Spring Creek, Rastrelli joined a few other Pro riders at the Ronald McDonald House in Rochester, MN. It was a special evening where the riders signed autographs, gave out posters, and spread joy to those less fortunate. “It is always a good time to see those kids and put a smile on their face, there is no better feeling. I am really happy with doing that every year and I hope we get to do more of them,” stated Rastrelli.

Rastrelli will return to AMA ATV Pro Motocross racing at the ninth round of the series. The event will be held at Unadilla MX in New Berlin, NY July 16-17. Rastrelli has his sights set on a podium finish, and will be training hard until that time comes.
