Cumming, GA (10/5/2016) - Mickey Thomas drove his Mystik Lubricant’sPolaris RZR to a second-place finish in Pro RZR class of the 2016 Mystik Terracross Championship. Thomas also finished third in the Mystik Shootout Racer vs Celebrity vs Women class.

Thomas came into the final three races of the year, held outside Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, NC, looking to take over the point’s championship. Unfortunately, mechanical issues brought on by the muddy track conditions had him finishing second in the Terracross Championship points standings.

“The mud was really tough here,” said Thomas, who led nearly every Pro race this year. “I overheated in Round 4 and I had a pretty good lead. Going into day two, we started in the back with the invert. I took second, and I just missed the win. I actually had a shot at it going into the last round. I got the lead again, but I overheated again. It was a tough weekend.”

Thomas finished third in Terracross points last year. He was happy to move up one notch this year, as well as being able to contend for the championship.
“We got second, which is one place better than last year,” said Thomas. “We wanted to take that number one plate away from Jason, and we were there, but we kept overheating. A lot of people had the same problems, especially in the mud.”
Thomas is likely the busiest man in off-road racing this season. Along with contending for the WORCS UTV Championship, Thomas is also competing in the Lucas Oil Off Road Series, as well as the Terracross Championship. Thomas also enjoyed success in the Celebrity Shootout class finishing third in points in the four-race class. The events take the top four from each of the Terracross classes, including the women, and pit them against each other in a six-lap sprint.
“It was a short season,” said Thomas, “and that was a bit of bummer, but we did get to showcase our sponsors well this year. We had a bunch of good finishes, and some podiums. Our sponsors were huge this year: ATVRiders.com, Mystik Lubricants, and Walker Evans. We’re happy with the way we finished.”
Thomas will return to WORCS competition as the series contests its season finale at Buffalo Bills Resort and Casino in Primm, NV on October 22nd. Thomas will attempt to defend his lead in the UTV Pro title chase and clinch the 2016 WORCS Championship.
