Held on the traditionally rough and technical track, the event took its toll on competitors like Thomas. Thomas was running second on the final lap when jammed steering flipped his rig. He righted himself to record the top-ten finish.
“I was running a good race,” explained Thomas,” but on the last lap a rock got stuck in my wheel and it locked my steering all the way to the left. I climbed a hill and tipped on my side. I had to get out and flip the car back up to finish the race. It wasn’t a great day, but at least I held onto the lead in points.

“It’s a cool environment,” Thomas said of the venue. “The track is just gnarly. It’s a lot of fun, but you definitely have to take it easy on the car if you want to finish. I’ve had some really good luck in this series this year. I had some bad luck here, but we’ll get them next time.”
Thomas is also running a truck in the Lucas Oil Off Road Series. This race actually overlapped with a Lucas Oil event, but Thomas chose to run the WORCS race.
“We chose this race over the Lucas Oil race because I’m in the points lead over here,” said Thomas. “We’re just getting started in the trucks. This was the only event that conflicted, so it will work well from now on.”
Thomas’ sponsors have kept him in the running all season. In fact, this is the first race he finished off the podium.
“Mystic Lubricants keeps our car so reliable with the best lubricants in the industry,” said Thomas. “Walker Evans Racing always has me dialed in with their shocks and their wheels and my GBC Tires are always perfect. Trinity Racing and Addict Racing gave me the power I needed to rebound back to seventh.”
Thomas will be back in action as he takes his WORCS Championship points lead into the next round in Hurricane, Utah April 15-17.
