Bad Luck Sidelines Mickey Thomas at Sand Hollow WORCS
WORCS Racing Round Six SxS Pro Race Report
Cumming, GA (4/21/2016) - The
old adage in racing of a $2 part ruining a perfect
day came true for Mystik Lubricants’ Mickey
Thomas as he recorded a rare DNF in the WORCS
Pro SXS Race at Sand Hollow State Park in Hurricane,
UT.

Thomas, who came into the event leading the points, had to retire from the race before the end of the first lap when a circlip came loose in the clutch of his Holz Racing/Mystik Lubricants Polaris RZR and stopped his charge.
“I made a bunch of passes on the first lap and made it to second; I felt awesome and the car was really great,” said Thomas. “Unfortunately we had an unpreventable mechanical problem that took us out. It’s a bummer. We have to come back strong because we were in the points lead and now we’ve lost that. It’s going to come down to the wire, for sure.”

Thomas was quick to point out that this was bad luck, and was a complete fluke. “The car is awesome,” explained Thomas. “It has been handling perfect every race. I haven’t had a mechanical issue all year. Something that cost $2 took me out of a race. It definitely hurts to see something like that happen. What can you do about it? We’ll come back strong. It was just bad luck. We have it figured out, so for the rest of the season we’ll have some solid finish.”
Though he is now third in points, Thomas is only eight points out of the lead with three races left. Thomas is looking forward to the next race at Iron Mine Raceway.
“I like Iron Mine; it’s an awesome track,” said Thomas. “I know exactly what setup I’m going with, and we’ll have the car dialed in. We’ll be ready.”
The next SXS event for the WORCS Championship is scheduled for May 27-29 at Iron Mine Race Park in Cedar City, UT.
