ATV Motocross Race Report
Lititz, PA (5/25/2016) - FTR / PR2 / Amped Apparel’s Peyton Zimmerman captured first place in Youth All Star and second in Schoolboy Sr. at the fifth round of the 2016 AMA ATV Motocross National Championship at High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, PA May 21-22.
Due to rainy conditions, Zimmerman had to change his setup going into the mud race. “My Dad put the air box lid on because of water on the track and taped up the radiator area to keep the mud out, which worked for all four motos,” said Zimmerman.

Zimmerman earned his second win in the Youth All-Star Class |
The great mud setup was effective and helped Zimmerman take a win in Youth All Star with 1-2 moto finishes. “The first moto I came out in third and quickly passed to get second. Brandon O’neill got stuck on a berm, and I hit him because it was muddy, and I could not get my tires turned fast enough. Walker then passed me, but I got back around him and took it from there to win the moto.”
In the second moto of Youth All Star class, Zimmerman rode smart and took a second place finish to secure the overall win. “I was third out of the start and made a quick pass to move into second. Then, I battled with Troy Hill the whole race. I could not get around but still got the overall.”
Zimmerman overcame challenging track conditions with great starts and smart riding to take the overall win. “I got really good holeshots and just rode a smart race. I found some clean lines and tried not to make any mistakes, so I got the overall and came out on top.”

In the Schoolboy Sr. Class, Peyton Zimmerman finished second |
In Schoolboy Sr., Zimmerman consistently came in second on each moto for second overall, making this his third straight podium finish of the season. “The mud definitely limited passing opportunities, so that hurt me a lot,” explained Zimmerman about his second place finishes.
Zimmerman commented that his bike setup was working great out there even with the mud. “The ELKA suspension was flawless. I ran the regular small Maxxis tires, not the mud tires, and they worked really good.”
In the points race for the National Championship Zimmerman is second in both classes. In Youth All Star class, Zimmerman is tied for the most wins and when throw away races are factored in, Zimmerman is right up there with the number one position.
“I was really pumped. I was glad to bring the points a lot closer this weekend because I was getting far behind. I am going to go to Alabama charging. I will be putting in a lot of work.”
Zimmerman will compete next at the sixth round of the 2016 AMA ATV Motocross National Championship at Monster Mountain MX Park in Tallassee, AL June 4-5, where he will be looking to take over the points lead.
