Zimmerman scored two more second place finishes
at the seventh round of the 2016 AMA ATV Motocross
National Championship at Sunset Ridge MX in Walnut,
IL.
Track conditions were great and the rain held off for a change, giving Zimmerman the perfect opportunity to show his speed on a dry track. “It was so nice, I was tired of racing in the mud. I was really pumped going into it knowing I did not have to ride in any mud,” said Zimmerman.

Zimmerman finished 2-2 in the Youth All Star Class to earn second overall. Zimmerman currently sits third in the points championship. |
In Youth All Star Zimmerman went 2-2 for second overall. The points and competition in this class are closer than ever. Every single moto is crucially important in the outcome of the points race for the national championship.
“First moto I was fourth out of the start and made my way up to second. On the first lap I made a pass on Troy Hill but made a mistake and he got back around me,” explained Zimmerman. In moto two, Zimmerman was second out of the start and put in a strong ride for a close second place finish behind Hill once again.

Zimmerman earned yet another second place finish at Sunset Ridge in the Schoolboy Sr. Class where he sits second in points |
Zimmerman also had a great ride in Schoolboy Sr., where he again went 2-2 for second overall. In moto one, Zimmerman and Hill put on a show battling it out for the first place position with full intensity. “I came second out of the start. Troy and I jumped the big triple and went to hit the inside roller, but both of us blew the berm. It was a crazy race, we were back and forth the whole time.”
With the points and speed of these two riders so close, starts are huge for Zimmerman, and thanks to his great setup he has full confidence in each gate drop. “The holeshot is key. My PR2 motor is quick and the Maxxis tires are hooking up out of the gate, so I am excited.”
Zimmerman is always reaching for the number one spot on the podium, but with the level of stiff competition he faces, his second place finishes are impressive to say the least. “I am going to be training really hard going into the next one to try to redeem myself. I have a lot of confidence in Spring Creek. I think I will do really well there and come out with the win.” stated Zimmerman.
Zimmerman will be returning to the AMA ATV Motocross National Championship series racing at Spring Creek MX in Millville, MN July 2-3.
