Tempe, AZ (3/4/2016) - Pro
Motorsports’ Matt and Jeff Hancock had and
up and down weekend at round three of the
WORCS Championship held at the South Point
Casino for a special round of racing held
in Las Vegas.
The event was different than most WORCS races
as it was held in the three horse arenas at
the casino, and incorporated sand, dirt, clay,
asphalt, and clay racing surfaces, as well
as big air jumps, log sections and large tires.

Matt Hancock finished sixth in the Pro ATV
Race. After a difficult start, Hancock relied
on a heavier training regimen he started before
the weekend to pull off a sixth place finish.
“I didn’t finish the way I wanted, but I
think I rode a good race,” said Matt. “I knew
going into the weekend that it was going to
be a long race and endurance was key. I started
training, so I could have a lot more in me.
I was getting tired in the last few races,
so I had to change something. I pushed myself
a lot more in training, and I can tell the
difference already.
“A bunch more guys showed up this weekend
and it was a pretty cool event,” added Matt.
“It was a lot different than the other races.
It was rough on the short loop, but the Elka
shocks were fantastic. I was able to keep
pushing. The Maxxis Tires along with Tire
Blocks were working great. They went from
the sand to the asphalt to the concrete to
the dirt with no problems.”
Matt Hancock ran in the top three for much
of the Pro Side by Side race before power
steering problems slowed his charge.

“My car was one of the faster ones out there,”
said Matthew. “The Sparks Motor and Maxxis
Tires are a great combination. We were trying
some new things with the steering and my power
steering went out on the seventh lap. It was
a pretty tight course and having it right
after the ATV race, I couldn’t run the pace
the top guys were running. I was up to second
and third for most of the race, but I couldn’t
keep up the pace with the steering problem,
so I fell to seventh.
“I didn’t want to wreck the car, so I chose
to run as well as I could and pick up some
points,” continued Matt. “We’re in this for
the championship, so we’re going to be ready
for Havasu and I’ll show what I can do.”
Jeff Hancock had a difficult day in both
the Pro ATV and the SXS Unlimited races. In
Pro ATV, he was charging to the front, but
got stuck in traffic and was then crashed
off his Honda by another competitor.

“I was fourth off the line, and then we started
bottlenecking ,” explained Jeff. “We were
all piled up right away. I got stuck behind
some guys who got tangled up. I came back
around into the sand section and got stuck
behind someone else. I came into the infield,
and I got taken out by another rider. I couldn’t
get my bike restarted. It was a pretty long
day on a short course. This isn’t my style
of racing, but I think I’m in better shape.”
In SXS Unlimited, Jeff Hancock’s machine
had trouble right out of the gate. With power
steering problems and a broken axle, Hancock
wisely parked his side by side for safety’s
sake.
“I took off out of the start pretty well,”
said Jeff. “Then I went through the first
jump and I lost power steering and an axle
broke. In the next corner, I went up on two
wheels and almost rolled it. I went into the
next section and into the turn into the sand
whoops, the car just wouldn’t turn and I just
blew the corner. So I parked it so I wouldn’t
hurt myself or someone else.”
Pro Motorsports’ Hancock brothers will be
back and ready to charge as WORCS heads to
Lake Havasu, AZ for a doubleheader weekend
March 18-20.
