Matthew Hancock rebounded from a multi-ATV pileup at the start of the nine-lap race, picking his way through the field on the combined motocross and off-road sand wash course. His finishes have consistently improved every race this season.

“That crash was a nightmare,” said Matthew. “I don’t now far back we started, but it felt like a minute. I got really pumped up there and I didn’t stay as calm as I should have. So I just tried to breath and let my blood pressure go down. I knew I set my pace too slow at the last race, so I said ‘What the heck,’ and I started pushing it. I’m pretty stoked that I got my best finish. I felt great out there today.”
The course featured a combination of a big air motocross section, combined with an off-road section comprising sand whoops, silt beds and rocks. The rough course took its toll with nearly every racer crashing at some point during the race.
“My Elka suspension was great today,” added Hancock. “This track got pretty rough; a lot of people wrecked and a lot of people broke. It just shows that we run the best stuff, and it allows us to finish every race. My Maxxis Tires allowed me to rip anywhere I wanted to today in the sand.”
While Jeff Hancock missed the first-lap carnage, he didn’t come out unscathed. He overcame a mid-race bobble to finish fifth.

“I got into some whoops, hit the back brake when I landed and went end over end,” said Jeff. “We tried a few different things, and it looks like it’s working. The Elka shocks were amazing today in both the high speed and the low speed sections. The Maxxis Tires and Tire Blocks were great today. They worked everywhere and I had no flats. The bike ran amazing.”
