a season best 4th place in the WORC
Pro ATV class, which will most likely
be his last ATV race in the WORCS Series |
Hancock is retiring from full time ATV racing
to focus on SXS. He went into the final ATV
event without any expectations and recorded
a career-best fourth-place finish.
“I just went out there and had fun,” said
Hancock. “I wasn’t killing myself by any means.
I just rode my own race and I capitalized
on some of the guys in front of me having
trouble. It was good to go out and have fun
and get my best finish ever. I’ll do some
local series in ATVs, and I’ll still race
the SXS. I’m just taking a year off of WORCS
ATV and try to enjoy some other aspects of
racing.”
Hancock said clutching slowed his charge
in both the Pro and Pro Unlimited SXS races.
He was running competitively in both races
before falling back.

Matt Hancock grabbed the holeshot in
the Pro Unlimited class at the WORCS
season finale |
“It was a long day yesterday,” explained
Hancock. “I was in the second row in Unlimited.
I pulled away from my row and took the lead
on the first lap. I’ve been doing a lot of
testing with the Sparks engine and Elka suspension
and I was ripping. We had been doing some
clutch testing and, unfortunately, we dropped
the ball. We have some homework to do and
we’ll be ready to go again. In the Pro race,
I was running smooth and the last lap I started
to push it. The belt was slipping so once
again we had clutching issues.”
