In XC2, John Henry’s son, Colton, joined his father in his RZR at the Big Buck. The duo backed up their success last year here to record another win together. They took the lead on the third lap and won by more than two minutes.

“He as on leave from the Army Rangers and snuck back up to co-pilot for me,” said Henry. “The car was great. The Racer Tech equipment held up great and kept us in the game. The track was fast and rough and the Racer Tech components definitely made a difference today.”

In the XC1 class, John Yokley, with co-pilot Jarrod McClure, ran hard through the dust and the track’s many stumps to record the top five.

“I came off row three and just charged hard through the dust,” said Yokley. “The Can-Am Maverick was great. I couldn’t ask for a better machine. The suspension was on point. Andy at Racer Tech; his control arms held up awesome in the stumps and the dust.

After a season of bad luck last year, Yokley is happy with a fresh start for 2016 with his Jack’s Can-Am Maverick. “This has been a long time coming,” added Yokley. “Getting back up front made me smile.”

Bill Patterson, in his first year with Coastal Racing, said moving to the new Polaris RZR has been a challenge. He overcame power steering issues to finish sixth.

“Team Manager Barry Hawk has won championships on both four wheels and two wheels, so the combined experience helps us through the whole process,” said Patterson. “The new car has been a work in progress, but Coastal has some guys that are just awesome on suspension. The Racer Tech parts have been solid. They are super strong. We’ve hit a lot of things in testing and they take it. At this race there were stumps everywhere. There were a few bottlenecks, so I hit numerous stumps and never had a problem.”

Coastal Racing’s Sean Bogdan fought through dust and the rutted out track to finish ninth. “It was a tough race because it was tight, fast and dusty,” said Bogdan. “I slowly started picked some guys off. On the fourth lap, the track got really rutted up. I had drive smart and fast. The whole team did well and we had a good weekend.”
