RRR’s Tommy Vossman Wins High Point ATV MX
Root River Racing’s Amateur ATV MX Race Report
La Crosse, WI (5/25/2016) - Root River Racing dominated the fifth round of the 2016 AMA ATV Motocross National Championship at High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, PA.
Rain showers moved into the area throughout the weekend causing the team to battle through muddy conditions, but they accomplished six podium finishes all together.
Tommy Vossman conquered 450 B, taking his first national win with 2-1 moto finishes for first overall. “I put my head down and told myself it is what it is, and the weather is not in my control. I won the overall and could not be more pumped. The Program is helping out a lot. It has changed me as a rider and I cannot thank everyone who supports me enough. I am going to keep pushing hard and cannot wait for Alabama,” stated Vossman.
Noah Mickelson also had dominating weekend. In Open B, Mickelson swept both motos, going 1-1 for first overall. This was Mickelson’s fourth straight win in Open B. “I got the holeshot and stayed up front, so that was really good coming back from my wreck at High Point last year. It felt wonderful to come out on top. For my first year on a 450 I did not think it was going to go this good,” said Mickelson.
Mickelson also took second in 450 B behind his teammate Tommy Vossman. When asked about Vossman’s win, Mickelson stated, “It was awesome. I think it was his first national win so it is good for his motivation.” Mickelson is leading the championship points in both 450 B and Open B.
Pro Am rider Dylan Tremellen took his first Pro Am podium finish of the season with third overall. “First moto I had a pretty good start and just stayed where I was. I passed a few people who made mistakes in the mud, which helped me out so I got fourth. The second moto I came out third and stayed there. I ran my own race and had a decent gap on fourth so I was happy about that. We have made a couple changes this year and I have been training with Joel Hetrick a lot so that has been really helping me. It’s all starting to come together so hopefully we can end up on the box a few more times this year,” stated Tremellen.

Logan Tremellen took a second place finish in Production C and fourth place in 450 C. “I had a pretty good weekend. I had a pretty fun time in the mud. On Saturday in 450 C I actually got my first holeshot and win from start to finish. I was pretty pumped on that.”
Tremellen is the point’s leader in 450 C by six points. “Hopefully I can stay consistent and come out with the championship. I am really happy to be back on the bike and feeling great,” said Tremellen.
Women’s rider JoHannah Vossman took two top five finishes. In WMX, Vossman went 4-4 for fourth overall and 3-4 for fourth overall in schoolgirl. “High Point was not the weekend I was hoping for. I could not seem to get my starts down in the mud, and with the track being so one lined I just could not make the passes to get where I needed to be. I had a pretty good race in WMX, but not as good as I was looking for. We are going to put our head down and work hard to come back in Alabama,” explained Vossman.

Haedyn Mickelson had the best weekend of his season, taking sixth in both Pro Am and Pro Sport. “ First moto of Pro Sport was a mud fest but I came out of the holeshot fifth and battled with my teammate Dylan Tremellen for three laps. I finally got around him on the last lap to finish third. Second moto I pulled the holeshot but spun out in the first corner so that was a big disappointment. I went from first to last really quick and had to pass a lot of people, but the track was so one lined from the mud I think I only passed four people for sixth overall. It isn’t bad but if I had not spun out it would have been a lot better,” said Mickelson.

“The Hoosier tires hooked up unbelievably well in the slick stuff,” stated Mickelson. The added traction without a doubt helped Mickelson to take sixth in Pro Am as well with 7-6 moto finishes.
Youth rider Brandon O Neill took second in Super Mini with 2-2 moto finishes. “First moto I was third out of the holeshot and quickly made a pass and stayed there the rest of the race. Sunday I was fourth out of the holeshot and quickly made my way back to second where I had an awesome battle with Trevor for second overall,” explained O Neill.
