Logan Tremellen could not have had a better weekend,
taking first in both 450 C and Production C. The
win in Production C was monumental as it was Tremellens
first win of the season in that particular class.
He had a very intense battle for the lead with
Rian Smittle, but was able to come out on top.
“This class I have just been having bad luck
all year. I finally got my starts down so we are
turning it around. It was a great battle with
Smittle. We both made a lot of mistakes the last
lap and we had five lead changes,” explained Tremellen.
Noah Mickelson, the current points leader in
both Open B and 450 B put in another impressive
weekend, taking second in both classes. “I got
two seconds which is the worst I have done so
far, but that is not bad. I am just going to put
my head down and train for the next race and the
ones after that. The track got really rough and
I just did not have a whole lot of energy. I have
not been feeling well this past week, but it was
a nice track,” said Mickelson.
Dylan Tremellen had one of his best weekends
of the season, finishing third overall in Pro
Sport and fourth overall in Pro Am. He is currently
third in the championship points for Pro Sport.
“It was a very productive weekend I am finally
getting my speed to where it needs to be to run
with the front guys in Pro Am. I just have to
keep working at the gym to get my endurance up,”
stated Tremellen.

Brandon O Neill took two podium finishes for
the Root River Racing team in Youth All Star and
Schoolboy Sr. O Neill also competed in Super Mini
where he went 3-4 for fourth overall.
“In Youth All Star, first moto I hit my head
off the handlebars and got pretty shaken up, but
managed to still go 4-3 for third. It was a definite
accomplishment to get two podiums. It was a big
goal for me and I am glad I got there this weekend.
I like the track. It did not get as rough as I
thought it was going to, but I was definitely
in shape to deal with the conditions,” stated
O Neill.
O Neill also had a good time in the TRX 90 race
where he took the win. “It was so much fun. I
had a blast doing it, it is a nice way to relax
on the weekend,” said O Neill.
In Schoolgirl, JoHannah Vossman went 3-4 for
fifth overall. “The points worked out kind of
weird. If I finished just one position higher
second moto I would have moved up to second place
overall. It was not what I was expecting when
I had the results that I finished with, but everything
happens for a reason it is just the way it worked
out. We will have to come out swinging at Unadilla,”
said Vossman.
In the Women’s class, Vossman went 4-5 for another
fifth place overall finish, thanks to the skilled
Root River Racing mechanics. “Second moto was
pretty hectic. When my class was on the gate my
bike still was not starting. My mechanics were
scrambling to get it finished. They got it going
at the last second. We pulled up to the gate in
time and I got a pretty good holeshot around fourth,”
explained Vossman.
Haedyn Mickelson stayed consistent and strong
with eighth place overall finishes in both Pro
Sport and Pro Am. Mickelson’s best performance
came in the second moto of Pro Sport. “I had a
horrible start and just pushed my way forward.
I passed a lot of people and I felt really good.
I ended up taking sixth that moto and I am happy
with that. If I get a better start I think I will
be right up there in front. I want to work on
my starts this week and keep training,” said Mickelson.
Tyler Mack put in strong rides for a top ten
finish in both 450 A and Production A. The first
moto of 450 A, Mack really showed what he was
capable of by taking a second place finish. “I
was right up there in the holeshot and stayed
in second the whole time. It was a really good
race,” said Mack. In the second moto, Mack took
seventh which gave him sixth place overall.
Alex Gillette took eighth place in College 16-24
with 6-8 moto finishes and twelfth overall in
450 A. “I would say it was a very good weekend.
On Saturday I had good starts, qualified eighth
in 450 A and sixth in College. Sunday I was eighth
in College, and in 450 A I came out 15th and passed
eight to ten people. I kind of proved myself that
I have the speed and ability to pass whoever I
want to. The Root River bike was working really
well,” explained Gillette.
During press day practice before the race weekend,
Tommy Vossman suffered a tragic crash. “My bike
shut off on the face of a triple. It knocked me
out cold and I woke up in the back of an ambulance.”
Vossman suffered substantial injuries that will
keep him out for quite some time. “I have nine
broken ribs, a fractured sternum, and some lung
issues but I am alive, healthy, and glad it was
not any worse. They told me eight to twelve weeks
I will be out. I cannot thank everyone enough
for standing behind me through all of this,” stated
Vossman.
Root River Racing will return to the 2016 AMA
ATV Motocross National Championship during the
ninth round at Unadilla MX in New Berlin, NY July
16-17.
