La Crosse, WI (7/6/2016) - Root
River Racing’s Pro racer Josh Upperman took his
season best finish with fourth overall at round
eight of the 2016 AMA ATV Motocross National Championship
at Spring Creek MX in Millville, MN. Teammate Sam
Rowe also had a strong ride, coming in tenth overall
in Pro and third in Pro Am.
Upperman battled his way through moto one to
a fifth place finish. “We had a decent gate pick
and I came out fourth or fifth and ended up settling
in for fifth. We had a really good bike setup
and I put my head down,” said Upperman.

In moto two, Upperman once again came in fifth
place, which gave him fourth overall. “I was definitely
happy. I cannot thank Rich and Doug, my mechanic,
enough for making this all happen.”
The Root River Racing setup was key for Upperman
and his starts. “The Hoosier tires worked awesome.
We had them dialed in and they had tons of traction
going into and coming out of the turns. I also
got a really good jump off the line on the holeshot,”
explained Upperman.

Upperman will carry this momentum on to the last
few rounds of the season. “We have had our ups
and downs, but for the most part we are consistent.
I am excited for Unadilla it is a great track
and great facility with dirt similar to back home.
I like the whole second half of the season, it
is going to be a fun next couple races,” said
Upperman.
Root River Racing’s Sam Rowe went 10-10 for tenth
overall in the Pro class. “First moto I had twelfth
gate pick and got pushed way inside. I did not
get the best jump and got pinched off. It was
a tough start, but right off the bat I passed
a couple guys and finished tenth,” stated Rowe.

Second moto Rowe again took tenth after battling
his way up through a few riders, which gave him
tenth overall. Rowe is happy with his top ten
finish but is hungry for more. “I want to stay
in the top ten, but I really want to break into
the top eight. I will go back to work and do everything
I can to get into the top eight at Unadilla.”

Rowe also competed in Pro Am where he took his
first podium finish of the year. Rowe went 5-3
for third overall. “It has been a long time coming.
I think every round I am slowly gaining speed
and feeling more comfortable on these Root River
bikes. I put my head down and charged as hard
as I could. I am pumped to be back on the box,”
stated Rowe.
Root River Racing’s Pro riders will return to
the 2016 AMA ATV Motocross National Championship
at the ninth round at Unadilla MX in New Berlin,
NY July 16-17.
