Dylan Tremellen had a phenomenal weekend, taking
third overall in Pro Am and second overall in
Pro Sport. “Moto one of Pro Am I holeshot and
led for a lap or two but fell back to fourth.
Second moto I pulled the start and stayed in front
for three or four laps. Sam Rowe passed me, and
towards the end Haedyn Mickelson passed me as
well. It was all three Root River riders out front
and that is how we finished,” explained Tremellen.
Overall on the series, Tremellen took fourth
in Pro Am and third in Pro Sport. “I wish I could
have been top three in both classes, but I am
happy with how I finished. I stayed safe and stayed
on the bike most of the year,” said Tremellen.
Next season Tremellen will once again be backed
by Root River Racing and plans to make the big
jump into the Pro class.
Logan Tremellen showed extremely impressive racing
all season long and came up just five points short
of the national championship in both 450 C and
Production C. Tremellen took second overall in
both classes at the final round, but was really
pushing for that overall win and national championship.
“This weekend didn’t go as well as I hoped to,
but I stayed consistent and I was just a couple
points off both championships. The season as a
whole went a lot better than I expected. I came
out just trying to figure out what I needed to
do for a championship and got a lot closer than
anyone was expecting. I am still learning and
happy to be progressing,” stated Tremellen.
Taking a top five finish in both Pro Am and Pro
Sport was Root River Racing’s Haedyn Mickelson.
In Pro Am, Mickelson took sixth in moto one and
came back with a head turning second place finish
in moto two for fourth overall, proving to himself
and everyone else he has the speed to run up front.
“I told myself I had nothing to lose and went
out there and ended up racing the fastest lap
time of the moto and passing the front runners.
It was pretty awesome,” said Mickelson.

In Pro Sport, Mickelson went 3-4 for fifth overall.
“I had almost last in the holeshot both motos
but it was good making all those passes. I wish
I would have done a little better in the holeshot
to maybe get a podium, but it is what it is,”
explained Mickelson.
Brandon O Neill finished the season strong with
2-3 moto finishes for third overall on the weekend
in Schoolboy Sr., and wrapped up third overall
in the national series in Youth All Star, Schoolboy
Sr., and Supermini.
“The Honda pulled great and worked awesome. The
year went way better than I expected. It was my
rookie year in the 250 class so I think I did
pretty good. I am looking forward to racing everyone
again next year and coming back stronger than
ever,” said O Neill, who will be stepping up to
the 450 classes next season.
JoHannah Vossman put in a very strong finish
to her season with third overall in both WMX and
Schoolgirl. “I wanted to finish this season out
strong and get the WMX podium, it is definitely
an accomplishment for me,” said Vossman who’s
4-3 moto finishes granted her third overall.
Vossman put in a season best ride in the second
WMX moto, working her way through the pack and
nearly taking second place at the finish. “I had
a pretty good holeshot and made two passes in
the first few turns. I held fourth for a good
bit of the race and made a pass for third on the
second lap. I pushed myself a lot and had my closest
race to Aubre King. I only crossed the finish
line a few tenths of a second behind her.” Vossman
finished the series points out with fourth in
both Schoolgirl and WMX.
Tyler Mack rode in 450 A and Production A. His
best ride came from Production A where he went
3-5 for fifth overall. Mack also finished seventh
overall in the series points for the year.
Noah Mickelson wrapped up the Open B and 450
B national championship early, so he took the
plunge into 450 A class at Loretta Lynn’s. Mickelson
showed his speed in the first moto, working his
way up through the pack passing riders to finish
fourth. Unfortunately, a second moto crash in
the holeshot landed him with twelfth overall.
“My first race in the 450 A class didn’t go as
planned, but it felt really nice being able to
lock up both my championships early,” stated Mickelson.
Alex Gillette unfortunately was injured before
the races started and had to play it safe and
sit out the weekend’s races. Gillette was in the
pits aboard his Grom when he was struck by an
ATV and ended up with third degree burns on his
foot. Gillette plans to be back to racing at the
Edge of Summer event at Soaring Eagle in September.
Many of the Root River Racing’s amateur team
riders will return to racing at the Edge of Summer
Soaring Eagle Resort and Casino race in Mount
Pleasant, MI September 9 where they will be fighting
for more overall wins and podium finishes.
