Galena, IL (6/9/2016) - The southern temperatures were high and the rain held off this past weekend at Round 6 of the AMA ATV MX Pro National Championship as the series ventured to Monster Mountain in Tallassee, Alabama for the first national event.

Chad Wienen finished second overall
at Monster Mountain going 2-2 |
In Moto 1, Wienen Motorsports' Chad Wienen came out of the first turn in second and quickly took over the lead. Halfway through the first lap, Wienen made a mistake off the face of a jump, was luckily able to recover the machine but had to roll the next jump which resulted in him loosing the first place position. Wienen kept the distance under 2 seconds between him and the rider in first until halfway through the moto where he made a small bobble and lost a few seconds. Wienen was able to start closing the gap back up and was under three seconds with two laps to go but unable to make any further advances and came by the checkers in second.

As the gate dropped for moto 2, Wienen was
once again out of the first turn in second.
Wienen lost a position as he tried to make
a move into first on the first lap but was
able to return to second within a lap. Wienen
charged ahead and was able to make the pass
of the lead on the fourth lap of the race
where he held onto first until he was derailed
by the second place rider just after halfway
through the race. Wienen came off his machine
but was able to recover quickly and came back
onto the track in third loosing over 17 seconds
to the rider in first. Wienen put his head
down and started clicking off the distance
between him and the rider in second and was
able to make a pass into second on the last
lap.
"I am happy to be leaving Monster Mountain with a 2-2 finish given the day, I felt like my team and I were gunning for a win but am happy to be leaving still getting second overall and being healthy. I've been given some extra motivation after this weekend and could not be more excited to be heading to my hometown track Sunset Ridge where so many family and friends come down to support!" said Wienen.
The series will return in two weeks at Sunset Ridge MX in Walnut, Illinois on June 18.
