competition for the Best in the Desert Series.

We came into the race with a brand new car with
only minimal miles of testing,” explained Martinez.
“The new car gremlins are always in the back of
your mind. The car ran strong, though. We had
a few problems. But to have all of these things
happen and still get 10 laps is good. Getting
a finish was winning for us.”
The track, which featured a 16-mile loop in the
desert outside Laughlin was extremely rough. Despite
early issues, Martinez used the event as a live
test and found several bugs to be fixed.

“This was, by far, the roughest track I’ve ever
raced on,” said Martinez. “The chatter bumps would
have taken down buildings. We had some belt problems
early on, so we ran it at about 60% for the rest
of the race. Once we get on top of these issues,
we’ll be right on top.”
Martinez has a huge group of sponsors behind
him, including Polaris and UTV Inc. He is able
to compete in the big leagues of desert racing
due to these partnerships.
“Polaris, UTV Inc, Motul USA, Pirate’s Cove,
ITP Tires and many more sponsors have helped us
big time to create a program that can compete
at the highest level,” said Martinez. “We’re glad
to have a car to help deliver to them the results
of which we’re capable.”

David Martinez plans to spend the next
several months getting his newly built
Polaris RZR dialed in for the BITD Vegas
to Reno in August
|
With over three months before the next race,
Martinez and his team will be hard at work. They
will spend every spare moment testing and making
the car better.
“We’re going to optimize our downtime and get
some seat time,” said Martinez. “We’ll do some
testing with Justin at Shock Therapy and at Pirate’s
Cove. When we come into the race, we’ll be there
with guns blazing. This car is just so dynamic
in the corners. It articulates very quickly.”
Martinez will be back in action as BITD heads
to Las Vegas for the annual Vegas to Reno race.
That event is scheduled for August 16-19.
