Can-Am's Logan Gastal Debuts
X3 at BITD Parker 250
Logan Gastel Takes Top 10
Pro Turbo Finish at BITD Season Opener
Highland, CA (1/12/2017) - Logan
Gastel debuted his new Can-Am Maverick X3 at the
Parker 250, round one of the Best in the Desert
Series. Gastel started 14th and finished 10th
in the debut of his new car in the Arizona desert.
With less than eight weeks before the start of
the season, Gastel took delivery of the new Maverick
X3. With zero testing time, he took the start
and ran as high as fourth before sunset, but not
expecting the race to run in the dark, he didn’t
install headlights for the season opener, which
dropped him back to a tenth place finish.

“We started building our new X3 the first week
of November,” explained Gastel. “We had two months
to build the car and get it ready. This is a brand-new
platform that none of us have any experience with.
We made the race after having no testing time
in the car. With the help of the Murrays and Lonestar
giving us some suspension tuning advice, we are
able to get the car to survive.”
“We were able to maintain fourth or fifth on
corrected time through the first two laps,” added
Gastel. “Once I settled into a groove, we went
in for the long haul. We pushed hard and it was
nice to start off the season consistently. Then,
once night fell, are charge was slowed because
we didn’t have headlights.”

Gastel said the car was virtually flawless in
a nearly bone-stock setup. He said Can-Am’s pronouncement
the car is race ready out of the box is completely
true.
“I’ve driven everything out there and, by far,
the Can-Am X3 is the best car out there right
now,” said Gastel. “It has everything: the horsepower
and the suspension and chassis. It had more to
give at the race than I was willing to take. I’m
very impressed. There is nothing wrong with the
car after the race and we ran all of the factory
suspension: A-arms, trailing arms, tie rods and
it all held up. The course was in pretty bad shape
with a lot of rocks.”
Gastel is now a factory Can-Am driver. Along
with most of the sponsors he had last year, he
also welcomes Lonestar to his program. “It’s nice
to have factory Can-Am support this year and we’re
glad to bring back Lonestar Industries this year,”
said Gastel. “This will give us a great foundation
on which to build for the 2017 championship.”
Gastel next heads to the illustrious Mint 400
in Las Vegas. That race, held in the desert around
Sin City, is scheduled for March 2-5.
