Tempe, AZ (9/13/2017) -
Pro Motorsports’ Matt Hancock finally found
good luck at Glen Helen Raceway as he won
the Pro Stock SXS event and finished second
in the Pro SXS WORCS race. Teammate Gareth
Dihel won his sixth SXS 1000 Stock race to
clinch the championship.
In the Pro race, Hancock was quick off of
the start in his naturally aspirated Polaris.
Running a hard-core pace, Hancock rode a new
set of Elka Shocks to his second podium of
the season in the class. He now sits fourth
in points, just 13 points out of third.

“It was an awesome weekend,” exclaimed Hancock.
“We’re running and NA car among all of these
turbos. I got pulled up the hill, but I was
able to pick these guys off in the tight stuff.
The guys built me an awesome car. The Elka
Suspension is so dialed right now. We keep
getting strong and keep getting better.”
Hancock was the class of the field in the
Pro Stock race. He took the holeshot and led
every lap to score his first victory of the
season. The win moves him to second in points.

Racing's Matt Hancock claimed the Pro
Stock SXS Holeshot |
“We’ve been doing a lot of testing with Doug
Roll and Elka,” said Hancock. “They keep setting
the bar high and the car is working so much
better than any of the other cars out there.
As competitive as this class is—the top five
were all within 30 seconds of each other—every
little bit helps. When you have a company
like Elka behind you and the skill of Doug
Roll, great things happen.”
The new Elka’s were dialed in as was his
Sparks engine and his Maxxis Tires. Hancock
has won the holeshot at three straight races,
a testament to his setup.
“Curtis Sparks was here today and the Sparks
engine plus the Maxxis Tires with Tire Blocks
got us off the line,” said Hancock. “Three
races in row I’ve gotten the holeshot. You
can’t ask for a much better setup. We run
the best equipment and that’s what gets us
to the top.”
Dihel avoided carnage at the beginning of
the SXS 1000 Stock race. Choosing to hang
back was right the call as the top three fell
back, opening the door for Dihel to win and
clinch the title with one race left.

Dihel took the SXS 1000 Stock Class
Win, which clinched him the class championship |
“There was a battle at the beginning and
some people were being really reckless,” said
Dihel. “I just tried to be patient and them
take care of themselves. The next thing you
know they took themselves out and I was up
to first. I’m excited about the final round
because I like the stadium-style races. We’re
going to do a lot of things to the car to
ensure I get a good solid finish.”
Hancock and Dihel will finish out the 2017
WORCS season as the pair head to Adelanto
Stadium in California for the season finale
October 6-8.
