Pro ATV MX Race Report
La Crosse, WI (6/23/2017) - Root
River Racing’s Pro ATV Motocross racers Josh Upperman
and Dylan Tremellen were again in the thick of
competition during round six of 2017 AMA ATV Motocross
National Championship. The event was held at Sunset
Ridge MX in Walnut, IL.
Upperman recorded a 5-7 in the two motos to finish
sixth overall. Upperman drove his Baldwin Honda
to the holeshot in the second moto, but the rough
conditions stymied his charge late in the race.

“I finally got a holeshot and that is what we’ve
been after all season,” said Upperman. “We just
have to start working on getting some other things
dialed in. I made a few passes and was gaining
at the end. I was really happy with how the bike
worked. In the second moto, I came out and tried
to set a fast pace, but the track was rougher
and I got a little beat up. All in all, the weekend
went really well.”
Upperman is continuing to make progress. The
team next heads to its home track in Minnesota,
a place where Upperman hopes to continue to climb
the charts.
“We’re making progress and I’m excited for Spring
Creek,” said Upperman. “It’s different than most
of the other tracks we compete on. It’s the home
track for Root River Racing and we’re looking
forward to a good weekend.”

Pro Rookie Root River Racing rider Dylan Tremellen
had a consistent run during the Sunset Ridge weekend.
He just missed the holeshot in the second moto,
and followed his teammate Upperman to the first
corner. He finished 11th overall.
“The start of the second moto was really cool,”
said Tremellen. “I’ve never been that far up at
the start, especially in the Pro class. I just
stayed consistent the whole time and rode to the
best of my abilities. I would still like to get
into the top 10 more consistently, but we will
take what we can get.”
Tremellen made several shock adjustments on his
RRR/Hoosier/Motowoz Honda. It coped perfectly
with the rough and changing conditions during
the race weekend.

“The Honda worked great,” said Tremellen. “We’re
getting better results and it’s really coming
along; we’re really happy with how the shocks
performed. The Hoosier Tires always hook up great.
It’s an awesome program this year.”
Like Upperman, Tremellen will be working hard
in the days preceding the next race. He is also
looking forward to running at Root River’s home
track.
“We’ll get in some riding and we’re running a
local Minnesota race so we’ll have some good training
before the race,” said Tremellen. “Spring Creek
is one of my favorite tracks. We’re looking forward
to a good, safe weekend.”
The seventh round of the 2017 AMA ATV Motocross
National Championship is scheduled for July 1-2
at Spring Creek MX in Millville, MN where Upperman
and Tremellen will look to thrill Root River’s
hometown crowd.
