Las Vegas, NV (4/19/2017) - STV Motorsports’ Andrei Isac won the production portion of the UTV World Championship desert race in Laughlin, NV. In the process, Isac handed the Yamaha YXZ 1000R its first victory in a full-length desert race. The event was the third round of competition of the Best in the Desert Series.

The race was held on the demanding 16-mile course outside Laughlin. With over 300 entries on the weekend, Isac had his work cut out for him. Between the sand wash and the whooped out nature of the track, driving through the field from the back to win the 160-mile race was a feat in itself.

“STV Motorsports put in a lot of effort getting the car dialed in,” said Isac. “Raceline Wheels and Arisun Tires worked great, and I couldn’t be happier with my Revup graphics, Liqui Moly, Trinity Racing, King Shocks, and photos by ATVriders.”

The STV Motorsports’ Yamaha had no problems during the race. Meanwhile carnage took out many racers in the field. Both driver and car survived the difficult test.

“We had a great run,” said Isac. “The car was perfect. We passed a lot of cars and there were a lot of battles. We struggled the first few races because of little things.”

Isac, along with Granlund and Doug Eichner, has proven the mettle of the Yamaha in WORCS competition. He is pleased to record its first endurance race victory.

“We started racing these Yamahas when they first released them and we’ve solved many of the little issues,” said Isac. “Now I am going to start getting them ready for the Sand Hollow WORCS.”.

“We are really happy to win the first big desert race for Yamaha,” added Isac. “Yamahas are doing great on short course races, but we’ve proven that Yamaha can win in desert competition, too.”

STV Motorsports will be back in action in the WORCS Series at Sand Hollow State Park in Hurricane, UT April 21-23. The next BITD race is the Vegas to Reno scheduled for August 16-19.
