A Polaris RANGER RZR plays in one of the
many mud holes at Brimstone |
The events moved fairly quickly as the Pole bending
course was set up. Running for the best time in
a cone lined slalom course would soon have riders
darting in and out of the cones on a surface that
wasn't exactly forgiving when it came time to get
sideways! The tracked machine got the most looks
as it clamored onto the course and turned in a very
respectable time. The fun factor was high and it
seemed every time I looked towards the spectator
area it was being filled by more and more rows of
Rhino's and RZR’s who pulled in from the trail
to catch the action.
Saturday was definitely action packed as event
after event was run. The obstacle course would
draw a huge crowd and offered plenty of excitement
as the riders did their best to navigate the challenging
course. Both ATV and SxS's were featured in every
event and it would take the flip of a coin to
figure out which offered more excitement!

The competition was just as fierce on 4
wheels as it was on two feet! Here a group
of gals galavant in a mud bog to decide
the victor, it's a dirty job but someone's
gotta do it! |
Competition breeds something in a competitor
that makes them push harder than normal and for
some that adrenalin rush would catch them as they
managed to bring the crowd to their feet by making
a mistake! Even the mud bog would reap praise
when a competitor made a solid charge at the long
muck filled pit!
Those who braved the challenges set out before
them would be the day’s superstars and have
their moment to shine, or turn a nice shade of
light brown after some of the competitions! Big
smiles, hardy handshakes and friendship seemed
to abound in every direction; this indeed was
an event that promoted everything good about our
sport!

Brantley Gilbert layed down some sweet tunes
to the massive crowd on hand as the sun
& day wound down & into the night |
The sun would soon set low in the sky as the
area around the main stage started to fill up,
and fill up and fill up some more as what seemed
like thousands of SxS's and ATV's jam packed the
hilltop to catch the live bands that were sending
out some down home country sounds that had everyone
enjoying the evening. Head lining the event would
be Brantley Gilbert and the crowds soon were pressing
against the stage as darkness overtook the mountain.
Fans sang along, cheered and clapped as one successful
day was almost history.
Now the event structure might have you thinking
that was the main deal for this rally, but with
over 300 miles of trails, getting some seat time
in would be first and foremost for the majority.
A healthy mix of gravel road, paved road and endless
trails awaited everyone. Clipping along the main
routes soon showed small clusters of riders pulled
off for a drink and some discussion about the
trail they had just conquered or the next one
to be tackled.

Track maps were used to navigate the gigantic
trail system & land area in order to
find your way around! |
Quite a few of these trails offer some very nice
trail riding while others have more then enough
challenge to make a new rider question the sanity
of the "enjoyment" factor. Cruising along
in a RZR had me smiling from ear to ear as we worked
our way through some killer sections and even had
me grabbing the safety bar as we worked our way
up some intense rock and rut filled hills! Spending
a week here would be very easy to do! Trail maps
are a must have if you aren't familiar with the
area and for the most part, the ones provided were
quite helpful and used regularly!
