Trail Riders Quad Scramble / ATV HareScramble
Racing Series
::Continued::
The warm climate and dry conditions in the winter
months also attracts several GNCC pro class racers
like Chris Borich look forward to escaping the cold
of their home states while others, such as Florida
GNCC pro Taylor Kiser, use the series as training
for the GNCC. “I’ve been racing this
series for 6 years. I’ve done pretty well
and won some state championships,” said Taylor.
Like Albright, Kiser also got his start in racing
at the FTR series and still enjoys it especially
when some of his GNCC competitors show up to race.

Taylor Kiser
signed with KTM at the end of the 2007
GNCC Season, so he has been testing his
new KTM 525XC at the Florida Trail Riders
in preparation for the 2008 GNCC Season

Chris
Borich is looking to capture the GNCC #1
plate in 2008, so he has been living down
in Florida testing some new combinations,
which includes the Suzuki LTR450 |
Like most series’, the FTR series is constantly
evolving by trying new things and making changes.
“We do a dead engine start and this year
they did something new where we have to put our
hands on our heads. Usually at the 10 second warning
we put our hands on our heads and when the air
horn blows we go,” Kiser explained about
one of this season’s changes. This year
Taylor has been practicing those starts on his
new KTM, which he got through his new factory
deal for the 2008 season. “The ATV has been
holding up great! It’s running pretty good
and I’m excited to see how it does at the
opening round at GNCC. I’ve been riding
non-stop and trying to get things dialed in,”
he concluded.

Some events put on by the Florida Trail Riders
are AMA sanctioned events, so an AMA or ATVA membership
maybe required for certain races. In addition,
in order to race in the FTR series, you must become
a club member. Annual memberships are $50 for
adults and $25 for children 12 years and under.
“You can go to www.floridatrailriders.org
to see what all the membership benefits are and
check race schedules and basically find out any
info about the club and it’s events,”
said Randy.
The next FTR quad race is scheduled for March
29th in Lake Wales, FL. You can visit the club’s
website to pre-register, check out the rules and
get more information on future events of this
exceptional up and coming series.
