2009 Fox
Racing Shox ATV / UTV Shock Ride Test Review
::Continued::
We tested the shock out on the track and even
when we intentionally over shot jumps, the shock
performed flawlessly. The shock is also easily
adjustable to suit rider preference and riding
style. The shock was originally developed for
the new KTM ATV’s and will be available
real soon for the Suzuki Quadracer LTR450 &
Polaris Outlaw. According to Fox, this shock will
also be available for both the Yamaha YFZ450 &
YFZ450R in the near future, and they are working
on developing the shock for other models of ATV’s
as well.

We also got to test out the newest generation of
Fox Floax X Evol's. The Evol shocks have become
quite popular among ATV racers and enthusiasts due
to their lightweight, adjustability and durability.
The dual speed compression adjustments are easy
to use and easy to dial in. “We were able
to pull into the pit area, do a couple of adjustments
and be back out on the track in no time. I was impressed
with how easy they were to adjust,” stated
Bloodworth. The Fox Float X Evols are a bit on the
pricey side and may not be exactly what the average
trail or dune rider on a budget is looking for,
so Fox is still including in their line up, the
standard Fox Float shock.
Also for 2009, Fox is pushing their economy model,
Fox Float R shock, which weigh in at only 2.1
lbs, which can save over 6lbs in weight off most
ATVs, and they work extremely well. They have
an infinitely adjustable air spring along with
rebound adjustability, but the compression is
preset from the factory. The Fox Float R’s
offer a plush ride and are able to soak up some
decent sized hits easily. These shocks worked
great out on the trails and under normal riding
conditions.

Fox's
Podium X Utility ATV Shocks are now avialable |
After several years of race testing in the GNCC
& WPSA Series, Fox Racing Shox’s is
excited to release their new front and rear Utility
ATV shocks. These shocks made a world of difference
over stock suspension on the utility models we
tested out. “It made the ride a lot smoother,
cut down on body roll and gave us a much more
stable ride. It also gave the utilities a plusher
ride and made a huge difference going over bumps
and obstacles,” said Bloodworth. The shocks
are available in stock length and are moderately
priced. They are available for several models,
including Can-Am’s Outlander, Suzuki’s
King Quad, Polaris’ Sportsman XP, Kawasaki’s
Brute Force, and the Honda Rincon.

Shox recently released their utility ATV
Podium X Shocks, which have been race
proven the past couple of years in development

Fox also brought out some UTV’s that were
equipped with their recently released Podium X
piggyback shock so while we were at it, we decided
that we might as well give the UTV suspension
a try, and what a blast we had on those machines.
The excellent performance of the shocks actually
surprised us a bit as we were not expecting that
much of a difference due to the weight of these
machines, but the difference was quite remarkable.
The performance was most noticeable in the stability
and it lessened the feeling of small bumps for
a smoother ride.

Fox Shox has definitely put a lot of work into
the development of their products and it shows.
The evolution of their products makes them a front-runner
in the aftermarket suspension industry; while
their affordability and diversity of products
ensures that they are able to offer something
for everyone’s suspension needs.
