Lake Havasu, AZ (4/20/2012) - Kawaski
recently planned a trip from Lake Havasu to the
Hualapai Mountain Resort in Arizona. This trip would
prove the true durability and power of the Kawaski
Teryx 4 750 4x4 Side-by-Side. In the course of over
100 miles drivers would experience many different
types of terrain including deep sand washes, high
speed desert sections, rock crawls, snow covered
mountain trails and changes in elevation. The weather
would prove to be a factor as well as Mother Nature
gave all she could in the form of rain, hail, and
snow.
Richie Hudson, Troy Herbst, and Jerry Penhall
would be our guides on the first leg of the trip
from Lake Havasu to Haulapia Mountain resort.
Richie Hudson’s wife has spent quite a bit
of time in the Teryx 750 4x4 SxS racing in the
Best in the Deserts Series and has been a top
contender in the Sportsman Class.

The
Kawasaki Teryx 4 750 side-by-sides made
a 200 miles trek from Lake Havasu to Hualapia
Mountain Resort in Arizona |
On Sunday March 18th, we headed out on the trail
with overcast skies with damp ground from the
rain the night before. The moist ground kept the
dust down as we made our first 10 mile trek that
went up to peaks and down in gully’s. We
stopped to look at Lake Havasu in the distance
as it was a really pretty site to see. We would
soon be leaving the Lake Havasu and make our way
up in to the mountains. We brought along 3 Kawasaki
Teryx 4 750 Side-by-Sides and one race prepped
Teryx 750 that our trail guide Richie Hudson borrowed
from his wife.
As we made our way down the trail we would encounter
many rocky trails that made their way through
the washes and the gorges. Some of the gorges
had high rock walls on either side with many cacti
lining the trail.

The
various trails offered many scenic overlooks
of the surrounding area on the drive up
to the resort in the mountains |
The Teryx 4 750 units handled great on all different
types of terrain that the desert trail was throwing
at us. The group stopped several times to admire
the beautiful scenery, and the mountain range ahead
that we would climb. We could also see the weather
ahead was starting to change to snow and rain. Just
as we had started to climb the mountains we had
some rain that turned in to hail, and then in to
snow.
The trails started to disappear in the snow,
but the Teryx Side-by-Sides kept on powering through.
The group continued on and quickly realized this
ride was turning into an adventure.
At this point we were on tight slippery trails,
yet the Teryx Side-by-Sides offered a sense of security,
comfort and power to tackle on the terrain. We relied
heavily on the GPS as the trails disappeared in
the white snow. We arrived at the Hualapia Mountain
Resort (owned by a retired Judge from Lake Havasu
and his wife) at about 3:00 p.m. We were cold and
wet, but we could not believe what we had just accomplished.
We all had huge smiles as it was really an adventurous
day covering 110 miles in all types of weather and
terrain.
