Utah’s Sand Hollow State Park ATV & SxS Riding Area Review
::Continued::

Some of Sand Hollow’s trails run along the many cliffs that give you an awesome view of the valley and desert floor below. The valley at Sand Hollow offers a different terrain and riding style that is a nice change to the sandy dunes above. In the valley, there are many deep sand washes, steep berms, and long high speed desert sections that keep the ride exciting.

The Sand Hollow's lower elevation area in the valley offers yet another terrain that features sand washes, berms and high speed desert sections

We had a chance to explore the top riding area and valley floor for two days and we still didn’t get to see everything! We did however, get to explore some of Sand Hollow’s historic sites including Fort Pearce and preserved Dinosaur tracks that were both close enough to ride our Side-by-Sides to.

If you follow the main dirt road in the lower area of Sand Hollow it will lead you to two historic areas Fort Pearce and uncovered dinosaur tracks

From the sand washes in the Sand Hollow Valley there is a desert trail that winds in-and-out of the desert vegetation for approximately 5 miles until it turns into a dirt road. If you follow the dirt road for 8 miles, you will see a sign for Fort Pearce. From our understanding Fort Pearce was built to defend the scarce water supply that flows near the fort. You can also find petro glyphs that were drawn by Native Americans hundred of years ago on some of the rocks along the river.

If you hop back on the dirt road and go down another half mile you will find the Dinosaur tracks. There is a fenced off area to park your vehicles and it is just a short walk back to the tracks. The Dinosaur tracks date back millions of years and where preserved in what was mud.

If golf is your game, Sand Hollow also offers a championship golf course and resort that runs adjacent to the Sand Hollow OHV area. The 7,300-yard, 18-hole golf course was designed around the natural landscape. We were quite surprised when we saw the lush green golf course as we rode to say the least!
