2011 Arctic Cat 550, 550 S & 550 LTD EPS ATV Introduction

After a late 2010 introduction, the 2011 550 with EPS returns after being heralded by enthusiast magazines across the country as one of the best Arctic Cat ATVs ever produced. Arctic Cat’s Variable Assist Electronic Power Steering (EPS) allows steering assistance to the ATV before it even starts to move at idle.

This is a huge benefit to conserving the rider’s input energy when in 4WD, and especially when the differential lock is engaged. Arctic Cat EPS will reduce the torque necessary to steer the ATV when changing direction with loaded racks or navigating tough obstacles like rocks, deep mud or logs. The variable assist system is driven by an electronic control unit (ECU) that measures steering input force versus tire resistance and vehicle speed then provides appropriate assist to the steering column through an electric motor.

2011 Artic Cat 550 S Digital Displace
The LCD Digital Display Gauge is included on the Arctic Cat 550 S & boasts over 14 read-outs with gear and 4x4 indicators
The Arctic Cat power steering ECU program is designed to maintain a light steering input effort, but maintains enough feel so you have a better understanding of what the tire contact patch is doing in relation to the terrain. Arctic Cat EPS keeps the rider and the ATV connected—giving you an edge which is lost on competitive units after sustained riding.

The potent 550H1 engine is a 545cc, SOHC, liquid-cooled, single cylinder, designed for a wide torque curve and the smoothest power delivery via Electronic Fuel Injection. Narrow, sculpted bodywork adorns the 550 H1while the seat has been lowered over an inch with a new seat foam compound that is plusher for those longer rides in the saddle. These changes seem minimal, but once you sit down, you definitely get the feeling of riding “In” the machine instead of “On” it.

2011 Artic Cat 550 Suspension
The Ride-In-Suspenion is designed to give the owner/rider a more secure feeling while riding the ATV wth a lower center of gravity, but still retaining the 11" of ground clearance!
Ride-in suspension has a class leading 11" of ground clearance and 10" of suspension travel. The combination of the narrow bodywork, lower ride height and center of gravity, inspire the utmost in rider confidence for aggressive cornering and handling. A brand new all-encompassed electronic 2WD/4WD/Differential Lock switch on the right hand control makes going in/out of 4WD or Diff Lock an easier process.
