2008 Can-Am Renegade 500 H.O. EFI ATV - Specifications

Renegade 500 H.O. EFI ATV Key Features

Rotax 500 H.O. ATV V-Twin engine

Rotax 500 H.O. ATV V-Twin engine

Rotax 500 H.O. V-Twin engine – This 80º V-twin engine is a technical tour-de-force, and the most powerful in 500cc class. The liquid-cooled, single overhead cam mill has four valves per cylinder and is fed by a fat 46mm throttle body and two VDO Siemens fuel injectors. The sophisticated electronic fuel injection system automatically keeps the 800H.O. engine’s performance at its peak regardless of temperature or altitude. And starting is a snap, with no choke required. The progressive throttle ensures the power is manageable whether in precise rock crawling or opening it up on the straights.

Improved Visco-Lok front differential – This Can-Am-exclusive technology progressively transfers power from a slipping front wheel to the gripping one – totally automatically. There are no buttons to push, no levers to pull, and makes the Renegade easy to steer when navigating nasty surfaces. No speed or rev limiter means it is true all-wheel drive. The engagement point is quicker for 2008.

RS-Type front suspension – Developed with top racers, this double A-arm set-up delivers precise handling and control in even the roughest stuff. 8.5 inches (21.6 cm) of travel means great ride quality. Dive-control geometry tightly controls the roll-center, especially entering corners. Aluminum upper A-arm and mounts reduce weight.

RS-Type TTI rear suspension – The simplest rear ATV suspension (75% fewer parts than competitive designs), with a trailing arm on a single pivot. TTI ensures zero scrub for a more stable ride, especially in bumpy terrain. 9 inches (22.9 cm) of race-developed travel and damping.

Motion Control Shocks – Gas shocks for a smooth ride with achine-specific calibration to soak up both high- and low-speed bumps.

Center-cast aluminum wheels – Rolled edge rims of rolled aluminum are mated with sharply-styled cast aluminum centres – the best of both worlds.

Holeshot ATR Tires – Optimal grip, especially in corners, thanks to a cross-country pattern and six-ply sidewalls.

Multi-function digital gauge – Its compact size belies the large number of features. Easy to read.

NEW! Separated brakes – Just like on race bikes for improved control.

Quad 60W projector beam headlights – For exceptional nighttime visibility.
