New Gator™ UTV
Delivers Exceptional Crossover Performance Between
Work and Trail
Cary, NC (1/20/2007) - John Deere
is extending its industry-leading line of utility vehicles
with the introduction of the Gator XUV 4x4, available
in electronic fuel injection (EFI) gas and diesel versions.
These new vehicles are designed to deliver outstanding
performance at the job site and on the most challenging
off-road trails.
"The utility vehicle market has been growing substantially
for the past few years," notes Kevin Lund, utility
vehicle group product marketing manager for John Deere.
"A large portion of this growth has been occurring
in what we classify as Trail and Heavy Duty vehicles.
We've been participating in this growth with our Gator
High-Performance Series (HPX) models, and the XUV is
an extension of our line that provides even more benefits
that buyers are looking for."
Lund adds that customers are doing more with their
utility vehicles than ever before.
"When shopping for a utility vehicle, customers
want it to be capable of putting in a hard day's work,
but they also want to be able to turn it loose trail
riding, hunting or fishing on the weekend," he
says. "They're looking for a vehicle that combines
the ability to do work and the capability to operate
in all types of terrain. Today's buyer needs excellent
comfort and ride quality, they want a vehicle that offers
power and acceleration, and they want the stability
to handle a wide range of loads. We're able to deliver
all of that with the new XUV."
The new Gator XUV 4x4 has been designed and engineered
to meet the needs of the evolving utility vehicle customer
base.

The Gator
XUV gas model features EFI with an industry-exclusive
electronic governor and throttle body.

To meet the demand for superior terrain capability,
for example, the Gator XUV features a best-in-class
True 4WD system with an on-demand locking front differential
that provides greater operator control than competitive
products. This system allows the operator to select
1-, 2-, 3-, or 4-wheel drive operation, to optimize
for turf friendliness or for rugged terrain, and everything
in between. Also contributing to the exceptional terrain
capability of the Gator XUV is its 11-inch ground clearance
and a full-clutch enclosure that is standard on all
gas models.
The John Deere Gator XUV also features a new Advanced
Suspension System that provides customers with a high-quality,
comfortable ride, even when tackling the most rugged
terrain. Equally important, the suspension has been
optimized to handle everything from light or no-load
operations to maximum cargo capacity (1,000 pounds for
the cargo box, 1,400 pounds total payload capacity).
This helps operators avoid the instability, the difficulty
in steering, and the poor overall handling that some
competitive vehicles experience when loaded to full
capacity.
The Advanced Vehicle Systems of the new Gator
XUV deliver the acceleration and power to better
handle increased loads. The Gator XUV gas model
features EFI with an industry-exclusive electronic
governor and throttle body. This system allows
the vehicle to autocompensate for belt wear and
to deliver power and speed under heavy loads better
than other EFI systems.
