Suzuki's Chad Wienen sets Fastest
Lap-time of Pro ATV Racers |
Delmont, PA (8/29/2008) -
The top riders in Professional ATV Racing
will take to the track tomorrow afternoon
during the $10,000 ATV Open at Steel City
Raceway. The event, which is part of the
AMA Toyota Motocross weekend, is scheduled
for 5:20 p.m. and will be telecast on SPEED
on Sept. 6 at 10 p.m. EDT.
Tomorrow's event, considered the "Super
Bowl" of ATV Motocross racing, pits
the best of the best in ATV racing against
each other on Steel City's tough motocross
course. A $10,000 purse, with $5,000 to
win, is offered, as well as a $500 holeshot
bonus from ATVRiders.com.
Practice is scheduled for 11 a.m. EDT tomorrow.

PENNSYLVANIA REPRESENTED...Three
riders in the 20-quad fiend hail from the
Keystone State. John Natalie, Jr. (No. 13
Warnert Racing Can-Am) lives just 80 miles
from Steel City in Houtzdale, just north
of Altoona. Jason Dunkelberger (No. 19 Rath
Racing Polaris) lives just north of Harrisburg
in Trevorton, Pa., while 2008 AMA Pro ATV
Champion Dustin Wimmer (No. 1 RED Team MSR/Suzuki/Yoshimura/Pro
Taper Suzuki) lives in Centerville, Pa.,
just south of Erie.
BROWN TO DEFEND...Leading
the way into Steel City is defending ATV
Open Champion Pat Brown. Brown will bring
his take-no-prisoners style to Steel City,
riding the No. 1 GOLD Yamaha. Chad Wienen
(No. 44 Team Rockstar/MSR/Suzuki/Yoshimura/Pro
Taper) finished second last year, ahead
of teammate Doug Gust (No. 55 No. 44 Team
Rockstar/MSR/Suzuki/Yoshimura/Pro Taper).
CAN-AM PAINT...All six
Can-Am DS-450s in this weekend's race will
sport special paint schemes to celebrate
the winner-take-all race. The Warnert Racing
Can-Am's of John Natalie, Jr. and Cody Miller
will feature special red-and-white paint
schemes, while Team Epic riders Jeremy Lawson,
Greg Gee and Sage Baker will ride special
black-colored quads.
THREE-WHEEL EXTRAVAGANZA...The
Motocross Legends Tour, held at 12:30 p.m.
tomorrow during opening ceremonies, will
feature ATV racing legend Jimmy White. White
will temporarily give up his duties as team
manager for Team Monster Energy Kawasaki
and ride a Kawasaki Tecate 250 three-wheeler.
David Bailey, Jeff Stanton, Broc Glover,
Gary Semics, Mike Fisher, Tom Carson and
Steve Lamson are also scheduled to participate
in the event.
AMERICA ROCKS...Women's
ATV racer and Nashville recording artist
Krista Marie will sing the National Anthem
tomorrow during opening ceremonies. Marie
made her concert debut two weeks ago at
the ITP Tires/Moose Racing AMA/ATVA National
Motocross Championship Presented by Parts
Unlimited season finale at Loretta Lynn
Ranch.
The Second Annual Steel City AMA Pro ATV
Open will feature Pro racing on Saturday,
Aug. 30 and a full card of Amateur racing
on Sunday, Aug. 31. Tickets start at just
$30 for adults and $15 for children 6-11.
Children 5 and under receive free admission.
