ATP came out full force at Pell City,
AL for Round 1 |
Perry, FL (3/26/2009) - Team
ATP Racing Engines came out strong on Friday and
Saturday at the GNC season opener in Pell City
AL! Fridays practice boasted the top 3 fastest
laps of the day with Devin Heimes 1st, Randy Lehr
2nd and Josh
Williams 3rd. Saturday's qualifiers and Pro
Am Unlimited continued this streak. Neal McGrath
won both his qualifiers in 450A and Production
A and Jeffery Rastrelli won moto 1 of Youth
15-17 on his ATP Z400 with a holeshot and a
commanding lead.
Pro Am Unlimited began with a holeshot and win
for Devin Heimes in Heat 1 and a 2nd place qualifying
position for Josh Williams in Heat 2. Josh Williams
went on to take the overall win on his ATP/
Motoworks LTR450!

Cale
Downen ended the weekend in 18th place
in the Pro Class |
Sunday's Pro motos began with a potentially great
top 5 start by Cale Downen which ended in disaster
as he was involved in a 3 quad pile up that put
him in a fence. He picked himself up and still
went on to finish his race. Sore and battered
from moto 1, Cale went out and started moto 2
with a mid pack start and finished the race with
an overall for the day of 18th place.
In Production A's Sunday race Neal McGrath started
with the holeshot only to be hit by another
rider putting three racers in the same fence
in which the pro wreck occurred. After waiting
for the medics to move the other riders to safety
Neal was able to continue and finish his moto.
But after some bad luck, Sunday finished on
a fantastic note with Jeffery Rastrelli's holeshot
and win in his final moto of Youth 15-17 which
gave him the overall win for the weekend!
