KYMCO USA Joins Specialty Vehicle Institute of America
Major Taiwanese ATV Manufacturer Now Part of Industry Trade Association

Irvine, CA (6/20/2007) - KYMCO USA is the 11th and newest all-terrain vehicle manufacturer to join the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America. The SVIA is the not-for-profit trade association founded and funded by the leading manufacturers and distributors of ATVs in the United States, including: Arctic Cat, BRP, Bush Hog, Honda, John Deere, Kawasaki, Polaris, Suzuki, Tomberlin, and Yamaha.

KYMCO has joined the members of SVIA to support the longstanding programs and efforts to make ATV riding safer and more enjoyable for all riders, including hands-on ATV rider training offered nationwide through the ATV Safety Institute (www.atvsafety.org), and advocating for state legislation to regulate known problematic behavior. SVIA also is an accredited standards developer by the American National Standards Institute for the four-wheel ATV in the United States.

“KYMCO is a global leader in power driven products. Its membership will reinforce SVIA’s ongoing efforts in rider training and education,” said Tim Buche, president of SVIA. “SVIA staff and our longstanding member-partners welcome KYMCO and look forward to collaborative efforts that will benefit ATV riders and strengthen our ability to get the word out about the right way to ride.”

KYMCO’s rapidly growing product line currently consists of five sport ATVs and four utility class machines. The sport models range from the Mongoose 50, 70 and 90 youth models up to the Mongoose 250 and 300 in the adult class. On the utility side the line starts at 150cc with the MXU 150, 250, 300, and the all-new MXU 500 4x4.

“We are proud to be a part of the SVIA team,” said Bruce Ramsey, vice president of sales and marketing for KYMCO USA. “We look forward to a long relationship helping to promote ATV rider safety and training for the industry and to our consumer base.”

Buche added that the SVIA continues to extend a welcome to all manufacturers and distributors in the United States ATV market to participate in its programs – key elements of which are aimed at deterring the use of adult-sized ATVs by children under age 16 – by marketing ANSI-compliant products and providing appropriate safety information and training opportunities to consumers.
