Yokley, 29, competed in the Quad Terrain Challenge Pro Stock class on a Suzuki King Quad 700 EFI in the inaugural season of the WPSA ATV Tour series. He earned third overall in the class, by winning three overalls and finishing on the QTC Pro Stock class podium six times. Yokley has made a name for himself competing annually in the Grand National Cross Country series, where he finished fourth overall in the Pro class in 2006. Yokley has joined the 2007 Kawasaki Team Green ATV Race Team for this season and will compete on the all-new Kawasaki KFX450 in the GNCC series. First runner-up: Daryl Rath, Hutchinson, Minn.; Second runner-up: Scott Kilby, Waynesville, N.C.

“William Yokley is no slouch when it comes to racing, as he’s done well racing in the woods, desert, on MX tracks and now on a utility quad,” explained ATV Sport Editor Jerrod Kelley. “He was in the running for WPSA Utility Quad Terrain championship, but came up short at the finale in 2006. Regardless, his skill and fun-loving attitude are hard to beat.”

ATV Sport has attended the Grand National Championship MX/TT (ATVA) postseason awards banquet since its inception, in 1997. A new publication in 1998, ATV Sport gladly took over the awards portion of the program from banquet organizer Byron Goggin, per his request. Goggin created the banquet awards to reward riders for their successful season and further recognize this growing sport. As Goggin intended, the awards were voted on by the people, hence the name. ATV Sport maintained Goggin’s vision and continued to award the “eagles” at the postseason banquet through 2005.

In their eighth year, the ATV Sport People’s Choice Awards were altered to better accommodate various racing disciplines. For the first time, awards were created for motocross, utility, flat track and cross-country racing. The awards were also taken online to coincide with our magazine redesign as well as to allow both online visitors and magazine readers the opportunity to vote for their favorite racers. The 2006 People’s Choice Awards had the most number of votes cast in their eight-year history.
