Bobby Sharp Family Benefit
Auction
Crestwood, KY (6/6/2007) - On Sunday
June 3rd, 2007 the ATV racing family lost a friend. Bobby
Sharp (41) was a husband, a father, a hard worker and
the pillar in a racing family. Bobby was taken ill less
than a year ago with a form of leukemia. He battled it
with pride and as much dignity as his frail body would
allow. Bobby’s humble and proud nature never allowed
him to let his guard down. Bobby would never want people
to worry about him, but rather his family. It was very
rare that Bobby complained. He was quick to offer his
thoughts but rarely let onto his pain.
Bobby leaves behind his loving wife of 20 years and
two young children – Hannah (10) and Noah (8).
Both kids race at MX events including the GNC and WPSA
races. They have raced a national series consistently
for years and Bobby made sure they got to practice all
winter long in some way. Hannah and Noah, like many
kids, viewed their father as Superman. The last year
has been extremely tough on them, and although Bobby
was forced to bed or hospitals much of the time he made
sure his kids got to race as much as possible. It proved
beyond a doubt several things: his love of the sport,
his conviction to fatherly duties and his awareness
that the kids needed things to feel ‘normal’
in a very serious and troubling time.
All will miss Bobby and although he would never ask
for himself, he would always hope the extended racing
family would help his family now. And that is exactly
what the goal is.
The 2006 Daniel Boone WPSA is the last race Bobby attended
before doctors discovered his illness and it’s
only fitting that it’s the location to start the
healing process for the entire racing family. To help
facilitate that process Carrie Auchter of Earlywine
Racing & Chuck DeBault of ATV Exposed Magazine are
coordinating a benefit auction to be held at the 2007
WPSA race in London, KY. With help from many of the
industries vendors, friends and family there will be
a lot of great items to bid on and 100% of all the proceeds
will be handed to the Sharp Family.
Many items have already been donated from Rath Racing,
Doug Gust, Team Suzuki, Joe & Heather Byrd, PowerMadd,
DeBault Photography, Premis Industries, Tire Balls,
Gear Racewear, Outerwears, Spider Grips, Houser Racing
and much more is expected.
Please come and bid, everything helps. The Sharps will
need help, and family helps each other. Let’s
show the world once again why ATV racing is a TRUE family
sport.
If you wish to donate items to be auctioned please
feel free, again, everything helps.
