Valcourt, Canada (5/6/06) - Bombardier
Recreational Products Inc. (BRP) launches its 2007
all-terrain vehicle (ATV) line-up and re-brands its
ATV products to Can-AmTM. The Can-Am name recaptures
the spirit of BRP's unequalled performance, superb
handling and advanced design that are unique in the
industry. In June 2005, BRP unveiled its new ATV strategy,
shifting its focus to ATV and powersports enthusiasts.
"We believe the Can-Am brand better represents
the positioning of our products in the marketplace
and provides the perfect platform to reach out to
and attract powersports enthusiasts," said Jose
Boisjoli, president and chief executive officer, BRP.
BRP made its debut in the ATV market in 1997. By
1999, the Traxter® was named "ATV of the
Year" by ATV Magazine. In 2003, BRP became the
first and only manufacturer to offer a full line-up
of ATVs designed for two riders.
In 2005, the OutlanderTM 800 H.O. EFI was introduced
and reaffirmed BRP's commitment to making products
with powersports enthusiasts in mind. Since then,
the Outlander has been the company's rising star and
flagship model, embodying power, performance and a
truly exhilarating ride.
Last September, BRP introduced the Outlander 650
H.O. EFI in North America and it, too, received great
ratings. Today, BRP achieves yet another milestone
in its ATV strategy: the revival of the Can-Am brand,
which further reinforces the company's commitment
to ATV enthusiasts.
BRP's category-leading Ski-Doo® and Sea-Doo®
products have demonstrated its passion for innovative
and market-shaping products. That same spirit, which
was also behind the original creation and triumph
of Can-Am in the mid-70's, comes alive again through
the 2007 Can-Am ATV line-up.
"Can-Am is part of our history, our heritage
and our future," concluded Boisjoli. "For
BRP, Ski-Doo and LynxTM mean snowmobiles; Sea-Doo,
watercraft and sport boats; Evinrude, outboard engines.
Can-Am will, from now on, mean ATVs."
2007 Products
For 2007, BRP redefines the recreation-sport ATV category
and pushes the boundaries of recreation-utility ("rec-ute")
ATVs with an outstanding premium package. It also
expands the Outlander family with the introduction
of the Outlander 500 H.O. EFI in North America and
the Outlander 650 H.O. EFI in international markets.
An entirely new concept blending sporty high performance
with all-terrain capability, the Can-Am RenegadeTM 800
H.O. EFI model is an ideal quad for the many recreation-sport
performance seeking riders, as it combines sport quad
performance with 4X4 capability and a stunning design.
For enthusiasts taking their quads on longer trips,
the Outlander MAX 800 H.O. EFI Ltd, a two-rider vehicle
with ultra-premium features such as colour GPS, silver
and chrome accents, and cast aluminium wheels, is made
to turn heads.
Like the Outlander MAX Ltd model, the new Can-Am
Outlander 500 H.O. EFI is based on the acclaimed 800
and 650 EFI V-twin powerhouses. With the Outlander
400 H.O., every Can-Am Outlander model is the most
powerful in its class, delivers light, crisp handling
and is equipped with a full battery of innovative
features, such as the Surrounding Spar Technology
(SST) frame, Torsion Trailing Independent (TTITM)
rear suspension and Visco-Lok+ automatic front differential.
One of the great benefits of BRP's enthusiast focus
is that it can look to its other ultra-successful
recreational products for inspiration. The Renegade
ATV is similar in essence to the Ski-Doo MX Z®
Renegade snowmobile, which is designed for spirited
trail riding and exploring off-trail. The Outlander
MAX Ltd is along the same lines as the Ski-Doo GTX+
Limited touring snowmobile and Sea-Doo GTX Limited
personal watercraft - vehicles equipped with sophisticated
power, an unmatched features list and a premium appearance.
In each of these examples, BRP created and still dominates
the category.
The Can-Am RallyTM model is the Can-Am entry-level
rec-utility quad with the most powerful engine in
its class, as well as features and performance well
beyond its price-point.
Complementing the DS 650® X, the most decorated
long-distance racing quad, is the Can-Am DS250TM,
an entry-level sport quad.
For kids, the Can-Am line-up offers two youth ATVs
- the DS 90TM four-stroke engine model and the DS
50TM, a two-stroke model.
And to reflect the new brand name, BRP is adding
a new line of Can-Am sportswear and riding gear with
the Can-Am spirit and style.
