                                West Virginia (3/17/2009) -
Rolling into the familiar red clay of Georgia
was light years away from just a few days earlier.
The Florida sands were gone for another year and
we would now be on a path that takes us to an
extensive variety of tracks, but none of them
close to the Florida whoops. I actually don’t
mind the sand too much, but it is always nice
to get back in the woods.

Jerime Dudding | After finishing second in Florida I was excited
to get into the woods and see how I could finish
for my sponsors. I have always liked the Washington,
GA track and have been able to have some good
battles there. Riding up to the starting line I quickly saw
the U2 class was going to be first out of the
gate. I picked my starting position and waited
for the flag to drop. Unfortunately my start wasn’t
as great as I hoped. My Can-Am Renegade 800R came
to life just a tick late. Cutting the first turn
sharp I soon found myself mid pack at best. We
were soon in the woods and I was trying to move
up quick. I knew if I didn’t get to the
front quick it would be a long day trying to run
down the leaders. Things just weren’t clicking the first
lap. I picked a couple bad lines trying to get
through the pack, which resulted in some small
setbacks. I started riding really aggressive and
that didn’t help much either, before I knew
it I boiled my rear brakes and riding a 700lb
machine isn’t overly easy without brakes.
Coming through the finish line on the first lap
I saw 8th place. Almost in disbelief I took a
deep breath and decided I better start riding
smart. I rode a consistent pace on the second lap letting
my brakes cool and getting the feel for the track.
It wasn’t long before my fluid cooled down
and my DP Pads could go back to doing their job.
I settled into a groove and put my head down and
                                started making up time.
Everything just seemed to come together. As the
track began to deteriorate my Custom Axis shocks
came into their own and I felt like I was on rails.
I soon came to a bottom with several riders going
everywhere trying not to get stuck in the nasty.
A smile soon came to my face as I clicked the
4x4 switch, dropped the hammer and let my Super
Grip tires hook up. By the time the race ended I had made my way
up to 3rd place in class and 17th overall. Although
not where I would liked to have finished, it felt
good to salvage a bad start with a top three finish.
Thanks so much to all my sponsors!! I’ll
see everyone in Steele Creek; I hope it’s
                                a MudFest!!
