Santa Fe Springs, CA (8/22/2014) - CT Racing’s Danny Prather and David Scott conquered the 500+ mile 2014 BITD General Tire Vegas to Reno run and took the Pro Quad win.

The Vegas to Reno is one of the most demanding but rewarding races in the Best in the Desert series and is a favorite for many racers, but this year heavy rains fell for two weeks prior and washed out a lot of terrain and created really rocky and rough conditions in some parts of the course.

“Our Elka suspension worked great and we were fortunate because we ran over 500 miles on one set of Maxxis tires and Tire Balls,” stated Danny Prather.

The #Q1 team was in the number three position early in the race, but was gaining ground on the competition. “It took us a while to get by second place because we were eating their dust and it was tough to see, but we finally got by them and eventually took the lead at about the 190 mile mark,” said Prather.

The team switched riders at just about every pit stop to keep fatigue to a minimum. “Once we were out front it just seemed to work well for us, both David and I rode about the same distance so it was pretty even,” said Prather.

While most sections of the course were marked, there were some areas where there were no visible markers and the team had to rely on the GPS system to stay on track. “We really have to thank Ricky Stator for hooking us up. There were a few places we really needed the GPS so we were thankful for that,” Prather stated.

At one point of the race, the team had a 25 minute lead over second place, which gave them a nice cushion. “It worked out well for us. We only had minimal issues; we lost an exhaust bolt, but it gave us time to fix those issues in the pits and not have to worry about losing too much time and let us just kind of cruise to the finish,” said Prather

The team finished the 500+ mile race with a time of 10:47:42.322, which was eleven minutes ahead of their competition, giving them the Pro Quad win and putting them in 16th overall. “Our CT motor ran like a top and ripped all day long and our Elka suspension worked great, even for as rough as it was. I also have to thank Maxxis and Tire Balls and Ricky Stator and everyone who helped us out, this was a good race for us and we’re really happy to bring home the win,” said Prather.

The final round of the 2014 BITD series will head to Henderson, NV December 5-7 for the Henderson 250, where the CT Racing team will be going for the win.
