Washington, NJ (6/9/2008) - The
New Berlin Unadilla track is known for its
big jumps, fast straights and mixture of rock-loomy
dirt. Headed into this race we were excited
to test out the power provided by Moto-Xperts.
In the previous race the machine proved it
had what it would take to perform.
Casey practiced on Sat and was dialing in
his JB Racing/Fox suspension and felt he finally
had the machine headed in the right direction.
His comfort level on the new suspension looks
promising and we are so far pleased with the
performance.
On Saturday Casey made a strong showing in
Pro Am Unlimited and set himself up for a
good run by placing 5th in heat one and providing
a 1:44.836 fast lap time. Things appeared
to be heading the right direction, however
while sitting in staging for the main event
Casey’s bike failed to start and the
day was over. After spending a couple hours
trouble shooting no clear reason for start-failure
was available. Assuming the weekend was over
Casey made calls to his family and others
explaining his weekend was done.
However on Sunday morning with a single kick
the machine fired right up. Casey was able
to practice and run in heat 1 of Pro Am Production.
Once again Casey made a solid showing and
walked away in a 5th place qualifying position.
The main event came and we loaded Casey into
the gate selecting the same starting spot
that was giving him consistent and safe first
turn positions. As the 2 min card went up
Casey kicked his machine and once again it
refused to start. After exhausting time another
DNS was all that was available.
After some assistance from other people and
some research the CDI box is looking very
suspect for this issue and is already in the
process of being changed to rule it out. As
always we look for a stronger next race.
Carrie Auchter practiced locally this weekend
after getting a green light from her doctor
and was feeling pretty good after a few hours
of practice.
