Maxxis EnduroCross Motorcycle Report & ATV Race Preview

Endurocross Links
Guthrie, OK (10/6/2007)- Round 2 of the Maxxis Endurocross kicked off on Saturday with the motorcycles and once again the track belong to KTM’s David Knight Phas he took over the lead in the first lap, and after a brief battle with KTM’s Dave Pearson, Knight pulled away and secured his second win of the year over Damon Huffman in second followed by Dave Pearson.

With the motorcycle racing out of the way, the track crew will work through the night to prepare the track for the ATV race on Sunday. The track will be very similar to the motorcycle track, but instead of crisscrossing sections the ATVs will utilize both lanes in the same direction, so the track will be half as long as the bike track, but there will be plenty of passing opportunities.

The track layout is very similar to the WPSA Quadterrain Challenge track with rock sections, mud pits, and logs. For those that competed in the Quadterrain Challenge will have a real advantage over the rest of the competitors, but it will be very interesting to see how well the Sport ATVs perform going through the obstacles compared to the Utility ATVs.

Quick rider notes: Rory Beckman has signed on with CanAm and will be racing the Outlander, and Daryl Rath will be racing a Suzuki KingQuad. Also, Ryan Morphew is back in action on a KTM after injuries have sidelined him for most of the year, and there were rumors about his retirement from racing.

Practice begins at 10AM on Sunday, and the Big Show starts at 2PM with everything wrapping up by 5PM, so check back Sunday evening for updates and photos from the first ever Maxxis ATV Endurocross
