Fantasy Moto ATV News Update

Appleton, WI (4/20/2007) – Wittenberg Off-road Raceway will have its first open practice of the season on Saturday, April 28th. The motocross track will be open for sure (bikes and quads welcome) – it is possible that the Dirt Drag strip will be available for testing and tuning as well. We will keep you straight-line guys informed.

Water, Wheels and Ice Extreme Sports Weekend at Nordic Mountain on May 19th and 20th is shaping up. When is the last time you saw Motocross, Snowboarding and Wakeboarding all take place at the same facility? Never? This is like a Mini Mammoth Mountain event on steroids. We are pretty much starting from scratch for the New Year. Not one inch of track will be the same as 2006. The new track will be laid out on the big hills directly in front of the ski chalet with NO woods sections in this course. As much as we thought the “practice in the grass” Unadilla style was a good idea in 2006, it too is gone in favor of the more traditional circuit our youth have come to expect. The 2007 layout will wind directly under the chair lift so spectators can get a “bird’s eye view” of the action. Facilities, camping and parking are as nice as they come!

So how do you keep snow around until May 19th? Plan ahead, way ahead! As soon as the 2006 Nordic Mountain event was in the books we began laying plans for 2007 with the owners of the ski hill. Everyone’s desire is to improve track conditions and snowboarding conditions. Last year the event was pulled off in late April and we barely had enough snow but the ground was a bit spungy for the MX. So we backed up the date a month to improve on conditions for the MX track and the snow making team at Nordic Mountain paid special attention all winter to the run that is being used for snowboarding in MAY – they blew over 20 FEET of snow in this one run and covered it with tarps at the completion of the ski season.

Don’t even ask how we are going to pull off a wakeboarding competition in the middle of a parking lot, for that you are going to have to check out Fort Fremont Marine’s website at www.fortfremont.com

Saturday will feature Motorcycle and ATV racing of the Forest County Potawatomi Northern Cup Motocross Series presented by Rock River Powersports while Sunday will make way for the ATV only series of the Ultimate Quad MX ChampionshipsTM presented by Janssen Motorsports. UQMX Byron make-up date – we are currently leaning toward July 7th but hope to bounce a few other dates off of racers at the Arkansaw round this coming weekend.

More info on times, etc for Arkansaw can be found at www.arkansawmx.com SCOTT USA will be the presenting sponsor for the UQMX event on Saturday.
