Racer Productions
Brings National Off-Road Racing Event to Snowshoe
Charleston, WV (3/7/2007) -
Snowshoe Mountain and Morgantown-based Racer Productions
announced today that on June 23-24 the Pocahontas County
resort will host a tour stop of the 2007 Can-Am Grand
National Cross Country (GNCC) Series, the largest off-road
all-terrain vehicle and motorcycle racing circuit in
the country.
Racer Productions originated and operates the highly
successful GNCC Series. The event, called the Moose
Snowshoe GNCC, will run as part of a 13-round, March-through-October
national championship racing tour that begins in Florida
and ends in Indiana.
The GNCC Series includes more than 1,200 competing
racers at each tour venue. It also routinely draws thousands
of spectators and is part of a weekly cable television
package on the Versus Network.
“Snowshoe is proud to work with Racer Productions
on bringing a world-class event to our mountains,”
Snowshoe Vice President and General Manager Bill Rock
said. “Racer Productions is a first-class operation
with an outstanding national reputation. The GNCC Series
event will be a terrific, and different, type of experience
for Snowshoe.
“I also think this is an example of the diversity
of tourism offerings in West Virginia, and I’m
delighted that Snowshoe and Racer Productions have demonstrated
leadership by working together to bring this event to
our state,” Rock said.
Showshoe Mountain is an 11,000-acre, year-round facility
located in the heart of West Virginia’s Allegheny
Mountains. A world-class ski resort in the winter, and
a golfing, hiking, mountain-biking haven through the
summer, Snowshoe’s combination of challenging
terrain and amenities will be attractive to dirt bike
and ATV competitors, according to Racer Productions’
Tim Cotter.
“The Moose Snowshoe GNCC will make a spectacular
addition to our family of events,” Cotter said.
“The resort is spacious, the hotels and amenities
surpass anything ever seen at an off-road race, and
the facility can’t wait to welcome GNCC racing
with open arms. If you haven’t been to Snowshoe
before, you won’t believe your eyes when you go
for the race.”
