Georgia (7/24/2009)
- GNCC ATV Racer, Hoyt Penland, passed
away on Thursday at his home in Georgia while
sleeping, and the exact cause of death has yet
to be determined.
Hoyt Penland was following his fathers foot steps,
11 Time GNCC Utility ATV Champion, Mike Penland,
as an up and coming GNCC / Baja ATV Racers until
a serious wreck in the 2007 SCORE BAJA 1000 left
Hoyt with a crushed right leg below the knee.
Since the wreck, Hoyt has had numerous operations
on his leg to save it and things were beginning
to improve, but he was still unable to walk.
Sadly, Hoyt Penland was found not breathing on
Thursday, July 23, 2009, at the young age of 25,
and he was going to turn 26 in just a few weeks
on August 3rd.
Funeral arrangements for Hoyt Penland are in
the works, but no time or date has been set while
an autopsy is done to determine the cause of death,
but the funeral services will be held at Hunters
Funeral Home in Clayton, Georgia.
In Lieu of flowers, please send donations in

Down Foundation who was instrumental in assisting
the Penland family with Hoyt’s medical bills
after his BAJA 1000 accident.
