Jarrod McClure's Unadilla GNCC Pro ATV Race Report
GNCC ATV Racing - Round 10 - New Berlin, New York

New Berlin, NY (9/16/2009) -The summer break is now over and its time to go GNCC racing again! The first race will be held at Unadilla in New Berlin, New York. This is the closest track to home for me and is one of my favorites. I had my new XCBOB.com YFZ450 prepped with all new parts and ready to go. The track was going to be ran backwards this year, and it looked like near perfect conditions. I was anxious to get racing again.

The start was in the same grassy field as always. Since the grass is always wet and really slick I decided to start in second gear to get a good jump on the class, but when the flag waved I fired the bike and then stalled it pulling out. I was near dead last going into the woods.

The track was really fast and featured a lot of the motocross this year. I was able to make some passes early on, and I even gained a few more spots at a bottleneck on one of the hillclimbs. More and more lines began opening up, and the track was getting rougher with square edges forming everywhere. By the end of the second lap I was up into 7th place.

For the rest of the race I battled with Johnny Gallagher, and Duane Johnson for 8th through 10th positions. I had a mishap on a slick hillclimb when a lapper forced me to slow down. I had to back down and gain some momentum to get to the top. This allowed Johnny and Duane to get by me. I just rode hard the last lap and was able to catch and pass Johnson, but Gallagher was out of reach.

I ended the day in 9th place. I was happy with the top ten, and I also gained a few points on my competitors. My Yamaha was working really awesome, and I am looking forward to the rest of the season. I will be ready for Yadkinville, and I’ll see you there.

I’d also like to thank my sponsors: Motoworks, Bowers Motorcycle Supplies, Atvriders.com, Motoprotraining, GBC Tires, Motoworks, Exit Shocks, Ars-fx, Tireballs, Pro Armor, Hiper, Shift, Powermadd, Pro Taper, Yamaha, Precision, DP Brakes, Graphic Creations, friends and family, also Mike Cafro Racing.
