2009 GNCC ATV
Awards Banquet Winners & 2010 Race Info
Morgantown, WV (12/5/2009)
- The 2009 GNCC Racing awards banquet
just concluded shortly after Midnight at the Lakeview
Resort in Morgantown, WV, and the night belonged
to Suzuki’s Chris Borich as he took home
the GNCC Rider of the Year Award, and it was also
announced that he was awarded AMA ATV Athlete
of the Year in las Vegas, NV tonight as well.
The top 10 ATV racers in each class were presented
a trophy for their accomplishment, and in the
Pro XC1 ATV class, there was plenty of track smack
and exciting news announced. Bill Ballance confirmed
100% he would be back in 2010, and he would be
coming after Chris Borich for the Championship
especially since he will be fully recovered from
his cancer that slowed him down at the beginning
of the 2009 season. Ballance also announced that
Taylor Kiser will join the Ballance Racing Team
next year along with Walker Fowler in the XC2
Class. Brandon Sommers will also be back with
Yamaha for another year.
A confident Bill Ballance didn’t phase
Chris Borich as he announced that he is not only
going after his 2nd straight Championship but
also a perfect season, which he nearly had this
year with a record breaking 10 wins and 8 straight
to finish out the 2009 GNCC race season, so there
will surely be some exciting racing action to
witness in 2010 between Borich & Ballance,
and they will surely not be alone at the top.
Adam McGill made to sure to announce that he
would have won the GNCC Championship if NASCAR
rules were followed since he lead more laps than
any other racer, which is actually amazing considering
he didn’t win one race this year, but came
so close many times.
No one can count out Bryan Cook, who finally
has the support he needs after signing on with
KTM for 2010, and he and Bonnie Cook also just
recently added a new addition to the family with
the birth of Aimee Lynn Cook was born on November
20th at 8:11 am - she weighed 6 pounds 12 ounces
and was 19 and a half inches long.
Jarrod McClure wasn’t in attendance, but
he will be racing for Yokley racing on the Polaris
Outlaw as William Yokley steps away from racing
full-time.
Among the amateur ATV racers, Can-Am / Warnert
Racing’s Michael Swift lead the charge in
2009 by sweeping all 13 rounds of the GNCC series
in the 4x4 Limited Class, and he was awarded the
4x4 Rider of the Year and Can-Am presented Swift
and his mechanic with special award for their
accomplishment.
