Primm, NV (2/14/2014) - GMR Racing's Grant Mitchell had a great weekend at round two of the 2014 WORCS Racing Series. Taking a second in Open A and rounding out the top five in the Pro-Am class, he is excited to gain some valuable points in defending his Pro-Am WORCS Racing Championship.

In the Open A Class, Mitchell proved that he is a front runner as his incredible lap times proved his speed and skill. During the race, Mitchell was able to maintain a steady and consistent speed. Without any issues and with his Sparks Racing Honda working flawlessly, he raced his was across the finish line in second place.

"I felt good, but I would have rather won, but it was still a solid finish, and it's a long season," Mitchell said in regards to second place finish in the Open A Class.

In the WORCS Racing Pro Am race, Mitchell came off the line in the sixth spot. Charging early in the race, Mitchell quickly moved into the third place position, which he held for the majority of the race, but with the race length extended to two hours for round 2, the extra laps didn’t work in Mitchell’s favor.

In the final three laps, Mitchell dropped back to the fifth spot, which he held to the checkered flag to round out the top five and gain some valuable points in the pro-am class championship race. “The change to two hours, definitely got me. It was a longer race than what I was prepared for, but my quad worked awesome with the Roll / Elka Suspension, and my Maxxis tires were hooking up great,” said Mitchell on his Pro-Am finish.

Although it was not the finish he was hoping for, Mitchell still added some solid finishes to the 2014 WORCS championship races in both the Pro Am and the Open A Class.

While his machine ran great and he felt strong, Mitchell is looking forward to moving on to round three of the WORCS Series in Lake Havasu City, AZ as he goes for a podium finish in both the Open A and Pro-Am Class.
