Bakersfield, CA (3/21/2013) - The season opener of the Yamaha Quad X Series took place Saturday March 17th and H&M Motorsport’s David Haagsma picked up right where he left off, winning the round. Teammate Beau Baron finished right behind him in second overall.

Haagsma and Baron beat out the stacked field of eleven pros at the Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, CA.  The Glen Helen Raceway featured a new track layout with several fresh lines. The new track favored the H&M Motorsports Team as both Haagsma and Baron won a moto.

Defending Quad X Champion, David Haagsma went 2-1 for the day. Haagsma got off the gate in good position and began a battle with his teammate in the first moto. He lost a bit of time midway through the race when he cased a double and stalled in a corner. He recovered quickly and worked his way back through the field.  He crossed the finish in second.

“Everything went well; my Maxxis Tires were hooking up great on the rough track. Overall, it was a lot of fun,” regarded Haagsma of his first moto.

The second moto went even better for Haagsma; he used his Curtis Sparks motor to pull the holeshot and began an exciting battle with Baron.  Haagsma kept up his staggering pace and crossed the finish 19.058 seconds ahead of the rest of the pack.

Finishing 2-1 for the day allowed Haagsma to win the first round. “It was great to get the win. My quad was perfect. We did a lot of testing with Elka and it felt awesome,” said Haagsma of his win.

H&M Motorsports Beau Baron

Beau Baron raced his H&M Motorsports / Maxxis Tires Honda to 1-2 finishes at the round. The first moto went like clockwork for Baron. He got the holeshot and was able to keep his Honda  our front for the twenty minute race.

“Between my Maxxis Tires and Curtis Sparks motor I rocketed off the line. The tires really hooked up well and the motor pulled amazingly” said Baron of his moto one win.

Baron got off the start in second place in the second moto and began a battle with his teammate. Baron kept right on Haagsma until he got stuck in a corner and lost time. He was able to get rolling again and maintain his second place position until the checkers.

“The race went well. We did what we wanted to do; H&M Motorsports 1-2 for the weekend. Everything worked well for me and I have my team and my sponsors to thank for today,” said Baron.

The H&M Motorsports duo will be back to battle at the second round of the Yamaha Quad X Series on April 14th in Race Town, California. The team will no doubt be looking to continue their 1-2 win streak.
