WHO: As Halfway to Hazard's
self-proclaimed biggest fan, country superstar
Tim McGraw gave the band an opening slot on his
and wife Faith Hill's Soul2Soul Tour (the highest-grossing
tour of 2007) followed by an opening slot for
McGraw and Jason Aldean in 2008. Their hook-driven
music and crowd pleasing high-energy live shows
earned them an Academy of Country Music "Best
New Duo" Award nomination in 2008.
Halfway to Hazard's Chad Warrix, a native of
Breathitt County and one-half of the duo along
with Knott County native David Tolliver, comments,
"Growing up in Eastern Kentucky, riding these
trails was a way of life and, along with playing
music, our main source of entertainment. Coupling
a ride with a concert where we grew up while being
able to give back to our community is a dream
come true. Being able to promote our beautiful
native region and its amazing people is a huge
bonus for us."
Halfway to Hazard is currently on a radio tour
promoting their new single, "I Know Where
Heaven Is," an uptempo song which evokes
strong images of family, life, love, and country
living. The single began impacting Country radio
on July 20 and will appear on the duo's yet-to-be
named sophomore album (StyleSonic/Picnic Hill
Records/Bigger Picture) due out in the third quarter
of 2009. www.halfwaytohazard.com
