Lynden, WA (1/22/2014) - The 2014 WORCS season
started this past weekend in Taft, CA. Big car counts made for an
action packed day of racing and the early sunset had all the cars on
course at the same time — making racing action tighter and tougher.
In Pro SXS, RJ Anderson’s’ #37 Holz/Walker Evans/Polaris RZR XP
1000 was back and ready for action. Debuted at the last race of the
2013 season, few drivers have as much XP 1000 experience as Anderson,
and he put it to use all day long. Joining RJ, was 2013 Champ Beau
Baron in his new Holz/Maxxis/Polaris RZR XP 1000.

Starting from the second row, RJ and teammate Beau Baron knew they
were in for a battle. With 31 cars entered in Pro SXS (along with the
other classes on course at the same time) working through traffic was
the order of the day in the later laps. To make matters more difficult, at
the end of lap two, RJ lost powersteering and gritted his way through
to the end. RJ and Beau had a battle going all race long til Beau
suffered a transmission related failure on the last lap. RJ walked away
with the win with an elapsed time of 41:01.016 and also the fastest lap
of the day posting a 10:09.846.
“Beau (Baron) and I were going at it, we’re teammates but it didn’t
feel like it today. There was some swapping of places and plastic back
there.” said RJ Anderson.
In SXS Production 1000, it was time for the “other” Anderson to do
work. Ronnie, RJ’s younger brother, raced his 570 in WORCS last year,
but was a new face to the line in the 1000 class. The familiar green/
white/black Walker Evans/Holz/Polaris RZR XP 900 came away with
a solid second place finish in his first outing, finishing the four lap race
in 43:53.592, with a best lap of 10:59.372.
The Holz Racing Products would also like to congratulate the Polaris/
XtremePlus team. After two weeks, thirteen stages and 9,000km,
Willy Alcaraz and the XtremePlus Team pulled out the 3-peat win at
the 2014 Dakar. These guys put HRP parts through the most grueling
off-road race on the planet and have won for three consecutive years.
We couldn’t be more proud.
The 2014 season is starting to ramp up. Next up, RJ Anderson and
teammate Beau Baron will head to Primm, NV for Round #2 of the
WORCS Series with their HRP/Polaris RZR XP 1000s. The Holz/
Coastal RZR XP will head back for some testing & development
and be ready for the Best in the Desert Mint 400 on March 14-16th
in Las Vegas, NV. And the Coastal GNCC team will spend the next
few months developing new Polaris RZRs for the season opener
at The General in Washington, GA on March 15th.
