Holz Racing's Beau Baron Second at Lake Havasu WORCS
Holz Racing Polaris RZR Race Team
Lynden, WA (3/19/2014) - The 2014 race series are in full
swing and so is the Holz UTV Racing Team. From coast to coast car
counts were high and UTV racing is alive and well. The Best in The Desert
Series rolled into Las Vegas for Round #2 and The Mint 400 and
over 50 entries, while the WORCS Series headed to Lake Havasu for
Round #3 with 79 racers ready to battle and the GNCC Series kicked
off their UTV Season with 86 racers at The General in Washington, GA.
The Holz/Coastal Team has been busy developing the new Polaris RZR
XP 1000 based platforms for the Desert and Woods and this weekend
would be the first race for each car.

Beau Baron grabbed the holeshot in his Holz Racing Polaris RZR 1000 |
Scott Kiger left the line at 6:35am outside Jean, Nevada to start off
the first lap of the Mint 400. Starting somewhere around the 14th
spot, he put together a solid lap and brought the #1934 Holz/Coastal
into the pits in first place at the end of the first 93 mile lap. Battling
through “dust, silt and rocks the size of coolers” according to co-driver
Brian MacLean of Walker Evans Racing. A quick driver change put Mark
Holz in the car while Kiger hopped a plane to Georgia to compete in the
opening round of the GNCC series. The #1934 suffered a transmission
failure 2 miles into the second lap. The car got towed back to the pits
and the crew got to work swapping a transmissions in 50 minutes,
getting the car back on course and salvaging a 14th place finish.
A few hours from Vegas, WORCS was getting ready for Rd#3 and the
famous lagoon jump in Lake Havasu. Beau Baron, used his Maxxis tires
on the familiar white/orange/black Holz/Polaris RZR XP 1000 and it’s
Curtis Sparks horsepower to pull the holeshot in SXS Pro Production.
Sliding back to second place, he struggled with a brake issue, but managed
a solid second place finish. In true RJ Anderson style, the #37
Walker Evans/HRP Polaris XP 1000 went checkers or wreckers. Battling
up front at the beginning, he suffered a broken bolt that had him
upside down and off the box. Ronnie Anderson continues to impress
in the SxS Production 1000 class. Watch for more podiums out of the
#520 Walker Evans/HRP Polaris RZR XP 900.
Back east at the GNCC opener, Kiger landed (still wearing his driving
suit from the Mint) and headed straight to the track - helmet and goggles
waiting. Scott drove a solid race and put the new Polaris/Coastal/
Holz RZR XP 1000 through it’s paces finishing with a solid 5th place
finish in it’s first outing. Kiger’s daughter pulled a novice win as well.
Next up, RJ Anderson and teammate Beau Baron will head to Lake
Hurricane, UT for Round #4 of the WORCS Series with their HRP/
Polaris RZR XP 1000s on April 12th. The Holz/Coastal RZR XP
will head back for some testing & development and be ready for
the Best in the Desert Silver State 300 on May 3rd in Alamo, NV.
And the Coastal GNCC team will get their Polaris RZRs ready for
Round #2 at The Big Buck in Union, South Carolina on April 12th.
